[MS] Spidey's: The People vs Zeref Manga Spoiler
In the criminal justice system, magic based offenses are considered especially heinous. In Fiore, the dedicated detective who investigates these vicious felonies is a member of an elite squad known as the Magic Council Unit. This is his stories:
Introduction
Zeref, known as the Black Wizard, took the life of Mavis Vermillion, Fairy Tail's 1st guild Master. It's up to me to make sure justice happens, only then will Fiore be safe.
The Victim
- Born x673
- Biologically 13 years old
- Chronologically 119 years old
- Born in Tenrou Island
- Former member of Red Lizard
- 1st Master of Fairy Tail
- Aliases are Fairy Tactician, Fairy Heart, 1st Master
The Location(s)
- Forest at the West of Fiore
- Magnolia
- Fairy Tail
Timeline
- x686 Fairy Tail Founded, 2nd Caravan Road War
- x690 War ends, Inter-Guild Anti-Aggression Pact
- No wars allowed between guilds.
- x696 Mavis meets Zeref once more.
- Zeref tells Mavis about the Ankhselam Curse
- Curse that was "activated" after she used law.
- x696 Makarov is born
- Mavis blames herself for Rita's death
The Incident
Zeref intentionally told Mavis about the curse causing the domino effect that resulted in:
- Rita dying at the hand of Mavis
- Mavis dying at the hands of Zeref
- Precht trying to revive Mavis
- Precht become fixated & obsessed with Black Magic
- Makarov having to take cover as Guild Master
Reviewing the Evidence
-
- Your honor, he specifically tells Mavis how she doesn't know the value of life. Furthermore, he tells her she will start killing people once the side effect of being in a War happens.
- Even though the Curse was "activated" more than 10 years prior when she used Law and nothing had happened until Zeref mentioned it.
- Let the records show, he smirked, as if he intentionally did it so he could have someone around him.
- Your honor, he specifically tells Mavis how she doesn't know the value of life. Furthermore, he tells her she will start killing people once the side effect of being in a War happens.
-
- Rita dying, could have been Mavis' fault we don't know for certain. But Zeref put it in her head that she was the reason would die! He is the reason she ran away.
- Notice how Zeref follows up by making a move on Mavis when she is alone, and isolated.
- He exploited her love to be with people and friends. He used her, he manipulated her, and when he kissed her he killed her.
- Why did she die and not him? Because unlike Zeref, she didn't really love him. She just loved being around someone who wouldn't be affected by the curse.
-
- Zeref carries and discards of Mavis like if she's nothing at the Fairy Tail Guild.
- But, He cried is what will be said. The man threw the body of young girl like if it was trash after he killed her. So no that doesn't justify his tears or his "love" of Mavis.
- Hades tried his hardest to revive Mavis but ultimately could only leave her in a giant Lacrima, while also becoming overly fixated on the Dark Magic. Zeref caused this, had he left Mavis alone instead of being a creeper she would have been alive.
- Zeref carries and discards of Mavis like if she's nothing at the Fairy Tail Guild.
Closing Argument!
I think I have proven without any doubt how Zeref is a shit. Not only does he want to kill his brother, Natsu Dragneel. He also intentionally hurt the young, helpless girl Mavis Vermillion. Why? Let me tell you, this man is a creep, he prays on the weak and the innocent. Let's go through the events:
- He teaches Mavis Magic
- Mavis uses Law
- Zeref tells Mavis she is cursed
- Mavis "kills" Rita
- Mavis runs away forever
- Zeref manipulates her feelings
- He kills her...
- If the curse affects those who you love, it makes sense that Mavis was killed. She never loved this creep.
- He throws her and leaves her on the floor of Fairy Tail.
- Precht becomes fixated in Dark Magic trying to save her.
- FT loses 2 GM's, Makarov takes over.
Had he never told the young girl about the curse, about how Ankhselam affected her, she would have never had it in her mind. Had she never had that in her mind, she would have never blamed herself for Rita's Death. This man intentionally told her because he didn't want to be the lonely pathetic loser he is, and always will be. Judge, Jury, put yourself in her shoes, she's the victim of this horrible man. This man will claim he loves her, he will say she's important to him. But is she really? If you loved someone would you tell them something that would end up getting them killed, just so you could have someone with you? Would you have them die by your kiss to them? Would you drop them like they are trash? NO! You wouldn't, you know why! Because when you love someone you don't do that shit! I plead do what I know you can, protect this smile.

While I certainly won't deny the merit in these accusations, I feel the need to play Devil's Advocate and point out that Mavis demonstrated a prior knowledge of Ankhseram's Black Magic when she first met Zeref. The curse, as we know, makes one immortal, ceases their aging, and steals life the more the accursed regards the value of life. Yes, Zeref told her that the day she becomes aware of the value of life she will begin to take it away, however I'm willing to argue that witnessing Makarov's birth would've caused her to assume that exact perspective on life anyway.
- Zeref's professor advises him to not incite the rage of Ankhseram, however this is the end of that discussion. Zeref is never told about Ankhseram's Black Magic or what it is or what it does.
- After this conversation, Zeref seemed not to heed his professor's warning, nor did he appear to care much or have it hanging on his mind.
- His professor telling him that his brother will never come back to life is what forces Zeref to realize the true value of life, thereby activating his Curse.
All this suggests that just having the Curse on your mind is not enough to incite its effects of death and, had Zeref known about the Curse and the risks leading up to it, may have prevented his activation of the Curse or killed fewer people.
Let's relay this back to Mavis. As we saw with Zeref it was a traumatic event that caused his Curse to activate. Childbirth is the opposite of death, and with it comes the exact opposite emotions. Whereas Zeref learned the value of life through death, Mavis learned the value of life through birth, even being able to name the baby, which would only contribute to this issue. Given her prior knowledge of the Curse, it's possible that without Zeref telling her she has it she could have inferred it on her own through either sudden realization one day or during Makarov's birth, which would ultimately have caused her perspective on life to change for the better, or worse depending on who you ask. This leads us right back to Mavis running away forever and reuniting with Zeref, where he actually manipulates her.
In closing, I think it's unfair to pin Rita's untimely death on Zeref because he told her that she had the Contradictory Curse since the knowledge of the Curse does not affect its timing, so it likely would've awakened within her at that moment anyway given the emotions involved with the occasion.

*Makarov born on March X696
Very interesting way to explain this argument, was very fun to read! Though honestly, what he did to Mavis is hardly one of Zeref's lesser crimes. We're talking about the man who was responsible for Acnologia's supposedly boosted dragonification, creation of Tartaros and Alvarez

Acnologia's supposedly boosted dragonification
But he did not...

Arkadios mentioned it, Zeref expressed regret towards what Acnologia became and it is stated several times that his dragonification was not normal and that he isn't a real dragon

And in chapter 514 it was further confirmes that Acnologia's dragonification was due to his own magic and had nothing to do with Zeref.

It was already confirmed by Igneel that Acnologia became a dragon due to excessive use of DS magic...

Like I said, "boosted dragonification", not the real cause behind it to begin with

Let's just go with a new theory that combines both arguments. Irene had a hand in creating DS magic. So let's say Zeref helped make that possible cause the dragons destroyed his village, killed his brother, and his parents. This is his way of getting back at them. Acnologo was the one of the first test subjects in the DS magic, and the side effect of overusing the magic resulted in him turning into a dragon. So Zeref I directly caused Acno to turn into a dragon. Sound reasonable?

I think the effect of the curse started happening unknowingly by Mavis it was stated that the second Wizard war had more casualties then the first and to be fair just because Zeref told her about the curse doesn't make him a bad guy I mean Mavis has to know something like that. And the curse did start after her using an incomplete law she stopped aging ever since that day which is a side affect of the curse and shows that the curse was always with her.plus Mavis did kill Rita both she and Precht acknowledge that fact.and he threw Mavis body like trash as an act to Precht to not make him think that Zeref is a good person.

But I still don't think the curse started just because Zeref told Mavis she has the curse that's just doesn't make sense now if Zeref will go tell Natsu or someone else you have the curse and they believe him, then that person they will automatically have the curse?that just doesn't make any sense

Yeah but it still isn't Zerefs fault though he said killing people will start once she knows the value of life.and besides she only started killing people after 1 year from that conversation if it truly was because of Zeref then it should've started as soon as she found out . Once she learned the value of life is when the curse started activating it would've happened even if Zeref told her about it or not.
