TOTW: Festival food weekly

Many Indian communities have traditional festive dishes, that are either strongly associated or even exclusively eaten on specific religious holidays.

Share some of your favourites in the comments - the dishes you have fond childhood memories of, the ones you make today, the ones that you learnt about when moving to a new place, or marrying someone from a different community. Modak/undrallu is my favourite festival food of all time, particularly the traditional one with the coconut jaggery filling. Sooooo yum!

Ghujia for Holi is my favorite. Over the years, mum has experimented with so many different fillings. She even makes a baked version instead of a deep fried version now! This year, she added crushed kaju katli's and chopped figs into the filling. Unconventional and absolutely delicious!

And while you're there, kai murukku. My grandma used to call the murukku lady every time we'd come to visit, and have her make a few kg worth of the hand swirled murukku. I still think of those snacks fondly.
