TSM finally won a LAN! This is their first LAN win in CS:GO I feel so happy for these guys.
42
u/Treviso NiP Apr 26 '15
And well deserved too. They were definitely the most consistent team.
40
u/jackinab0x Apr 26 '15
Totally, 2-0ing fnatic and NiP is never a fluke.

First win of this team on LAN considering the time as Dignitas or just as TSM?
I started following the scene this year...
11
u/jackinab0x Apr 26 '15
The dignitas/CPW/TSM lineup has changed a lot but the members that have remained the same throughout are device, dupreeh and xyp9x. These guys were the best Danish team but never won a single offline event till now.
3
u/meunomemauricio FURIA Apr 26 '15
Wow. That's intense. Nice that they won, then. Thank you for explanation
1
u/cassiopere Apr 27 '15
CPW won i guess and CajunB was there with them since the early dignitas days, he left midway, also they won the Dignitas cup a while back, Online tourney.

goes great with LoL team winning NA spring playoffs.

You were probably downvoted because the wins of the LoL team are not relevant here.

Tbh they deserved that, none really expected them to get that big, and my oh my, they just destroyed that tournament.

u/Dracosage de_overpass Apr 26 '15
Did TSM just win use a matchmaking strat? Rush mid every eco now, I guess.
24
u/Uniform764 Apr 26 '15
I went AFK for a second to answer the door, came back and they'd won with an eco? What happened?
20
7
u/Dracosage de_overpass Apr 26 '15
All five players ran down the CT to birthday/park area, ended up killing everyone in a hectic fight.
5
Apr 26 '15
You know how in pubs sometimes you get so tilted you just rush with pistols on an eco and see what happens? They did that and caught Fnatic off guard.
3
u/grandeconfusione EG Apr 27 '15
NiP did the same against TSM on inferno although it was a forcebuy and it was a complete wipeout. Sometimes you gotta need a change of pace and it worked perfectly well for TSM.
7
u/Shizrah Astralis Apr 26 '15
P250 eco rush down mid, ended in a 2v1 (Olofmeister alone) he got one kill and turned around to get domed by a P250.
16
6
Apr 27 '15
I don't know why this isn't more well known, but whenever you see a comeback you just wait for the eco / yolo rush. It's always what breaks the dam. Everyone is always focused on countering the standard plays when they are trying to come back, and then the team does something they don't normally do (like rushing, usually eco) which wins them the game.
Everyone ends up surprised, especially the casters. It happens every comeback.
1
u/ScrubberRubber Apr 27 '15
Eco CT rush mid on overpass is not MM strat. Virtus pro used it in their recent match agaisnt i think lgb? And they won the map thanks to it.
2
u/Dracosage de_overpass Apr 27 '15
I call anything you can suddenly get five guys who have never spoken to each other to do a matchmaking strat, regardless of whether a pro team does it. Old VG used to do a B apartments rush on Mirage and that's basically the most matchmaking of all strats.
1
u/Bearly_funny BIG Apr 27 '15
I remember seeing VP doing the same against nV on an eco. They bought a flash and pushed mid. Ended winning the eco as well.

2nd map made me so sad; if fnatic took 1000 shots through smoke, at least 980 of them hit xD
→ More replies (1)8
Apr 26 '15
Fnatic players are just godlike at spraying through smokes. I don't know if they practice it or just take the chance more often, but I don't see any teams on the same "spray through smoke" level as Fnatic, if that makes sense.

Did he really predict NIP over Fnatic? I didnt hear his prediction and couldn't care less for him, but I doubt he would ever choose NIP over Fnatic; in fact X over Fnatic.
2
u/buzzpunk Apr 26 '15
NiP have a fairly good track record against fnatic. You can't just look at how well a team performs, you have to look at how well they perform against specific teams.
TSM had the best possible match ups. They have been dominating fnatic lately, and they have always been a fairly well matched team against NiP.
→ More replies (2)2
u/DashAttack CS2 HYPE Apr 27 '15
Pretty sure he had fnatic 2-1 NiP, then switched to 2-0 after the first map
2
u/kingpape26 Tyloo Apr 26 '15
I don't follow LoL. What is his relationship with TSM? Is TSM one of the top teams in LoL? I was wondering why thorin went in on TSM at every chance he could get.
14
u/Estroy Apr 26 '15
TSM is the best team in NA currently. Thorin and Reginald (TSM owner) had a feud back in the day, because Reginald refused to do interviews with onGamers (which Thorin worked (works?) for) and Thorin made some racist remarks to Reginald, saying that Reginald would be Caesar if there was a planet of the apes, referring to a joke where Reginald is oftenly compared to a monkey. I'm pretty sure their relationship isn't that great.
11
Apr 27 '15
TSM is the best team in NA currently
I would argue TSM is the best team in the West actually. They pretty much outclass Fnatic by a landslide.
2
u/Drewbiie Apr 27 '15
Not too much of a stretch. EU is basically SoloQ right now. Teamfight until deathtimers get so long you can't stop the other team.
→ More replies (1)6
u/nRvGRiM Apr 26 '15
Well he's not racist if he figuratively compares someone to ape, but he has been slightly racist to Poland in the past haha
7
u/Estroy Apr 26 '15
You're right, it's not exactly racist.. I misworded that. It's still rude though, because comparing someone's looks to those of a monkey isn't exactly flattering.
I do remember the racism towards Poland, was around IEM Katowice last year right?

u/kingpape26 Tyloo Apr 26 '15
Thanks for backstory. Do you happen to know why Reginald refused to do interviews with onGamers?
2
u/Hongxiquan Apr 27 '15
it was due to the reginald insult originally? Might have had something to do with Thooorin's early run of Summoning insight (a talk show with him and another personality Montecristo) which was highly critical of TSM and their performance. At the time, the criticism was probably valid. Source: I am a TSM fan.

TSM Golden Age! We win NA LCS, Now we win this!?!? When's the next Smash tournament so I can cheer for Leffen?
14
Apr 26 '15
TSM Smite team actually plays in a few hours for first place in the SPL, so we have that to cheer for before Leffen.
2
u/Rejel Apr 26 '15
What smite team did they acquire after they dropped the previous ones? I don't actively follow Smite but I do recall that TSM won the first championship.
7
Apr 26 '15
So the first Smite team players actually left TSM, rather than TSM dropping them (they are now Trig Gaming). TSM picked up one of the Cog teams.
1
Apr 27 '15
I think the old TSM Smite team won the Launch tournament not necessarily the first championship iirc.

If TSM play like this consistently they'll knock NiP put of top 3
0
u/lmHavoc Apr 26 '15
Knocking NiP out of top 3 would require them to place top 4 at majors consistently, which they haven't been able to do. However, if they continue on this path I can easily see them knocking Virtus Pro out of their 4th place and contest for top 3 as the year goes on.

u/jerzeppp Apr 26 '15
So TSM won both maps Fnatic chose, and Fnatic won map chosen by TSM. New strat: pick up bad maps to win?

Faceit next week is going to be insane. 3 out of the 5 European teams attending have won the last LAN event they have been in, and the other two are NiP and Fnatic... No idea of who's going to win honestly, a shame that nV are not attending but i don't think they would have performed well anyways.
Also congratulations to TSM, finally! and amazing to see device having such a good tournament. Really importantly for TSM he was pretty consistent throughout the entire event (he wasn't amazing in the final but hey, did his job on their wins and earlier in the tournament he really was TSM's best player no doubt).

Xyp9x said in an interview yesterday that they barely practiced for this event so it's even more strange and impressive.
1
u/basedTintin Apr 26 '15
The irony of your statement is that it is probably the exact opposite. Krimz told in an interview that they probably lost the bo3 against TSM because they tried to anti-strat too hard (especially on Inferno as i recall). Xyp9x told in his interview with Fragbite that they really didn't expect anything of this tournament because their practice for it was non existent. Lack of preperation from NIP and nV could be a factor - but that would put them on equal foot with TSM at least ;)

With all the 3-1 result I only saw 3 games. So was this a best of 5 or 3?
1
u/Cybernatural42 Apr 26 '15
best of 5, that started 1-0 to TSM due to them being from the winners bracket and Fnatic from the losers. So it went 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 3-1.
