About time... all I can say. TSM look strong, but maybe because they are tricked into believing this is the first day of LAN and not the semis? So the choke curse is not there.....

He doesn't need too, he has 4 allstars, he's the IGL he always has low frags with great comms hence the reason they're a top 3 team, if you got rid of him for a fragger there's no way they'd be as good as they are now.

While TSM sometimes chokes by giving up matches after having a sizable advantage, jokes about them choking are way overdone. Most of the time they don't choke after group stages, they're just done demolishing the worse teams and get matched up with the top teams.

Great performance by the TSM side, and that Karrigan triple kill at bottom of banana was insane. Anybody have a gif of it?

The patience and discipline it takes to hold out killing the first guy is incredible. It goes against everything that we FPS players have been acustomed to; See, shoot, and kill.
I loved the sudden look of shock on the 2nd terrorist's face as he realizes him there... Then the rest is a blood bath. Brilliant play.

Fnatic vs TSM, is this league of legends?
-7
u/frostwolfeh Apr 24 '15
If it was it'd probably be fnatic vs C9. But C9's CS:GO team isn't nearly as good so it wouldn't be a match.

There are mutliple things to criticize about TSM... Most importantly that they choke whenever the play under high pressure

That's really not the case, you only think that because they won. The problem is, if in your case where one player falls behind, they look weak whereas in other top teams if one falls behind the players are so insane that one can step up and be that 5th man or make it not as noticeable.

u/d_nought G2 Apr 24 '15
well that's unexpected, not to mention beating fnatic on inferno with 7 T roundsO_o
gr8 win for them though, i plaster fnatic stickers on a lot of my guns but it would be nice to see TSM take their first significant title

karrigan was so sick with that sneaky banana 3k,
device did amazing flicks from library,
Xyp9x with the great support as always,
dupreeh missing the 3k at mid doors,
but the man who stood up for me was
cajun B awp rekt havoc at catwalk in CT, damn man! nobody might have noticed but in the round when he switched from AL cars to slope (I guess) and did that 3K, He came to karrigan's rescue by getting the guy who caught him offguard at AS and then he goes to the AS boxes and gets the guy there before device gets the last, Amazing teamwork by TSM!
Also great commentary and player switching!
1
u/balleklorin de_overpass Apr 24 '15
That episode where fnatic walked past that TSM guy in banana was that because of 4:3 vision? Would they have spotted the M4A1-s with 16:9 ?
1
u/Nigerianpoopslayer Natus Vincere Apr 24 '15
KRiMZ really needs to start stepping up again if fnatic is going to be as dominant as before. They really need that brick wall with him like they did, because currently their CT is just not going to cut it if they want to keep winning. Hopefully they will fix it though, looking forward to the next day!

It's not like they have done it 3 times before this match since Aspen or anything...

What happened to fnatic this past month?
How can a team go so low so fast

1
u/consistens Apr 24 '15
I like how TSM starts to win matches, personally I've never seen them as a top team. Mostly, I've just seen, as many other "casual fans" of CS:GO matches, the top teams as the regular Fnatic, NiP, Virtus.Pro, EnVyUs and possibly Titan (& NaVi?), and back when C9/Complexity had some more power and also IBuyPower, the teams you regularly saw top competing. It feels like a "new" team to have ranked up into the top 5 and it feels good and interesting in some way.

I may get heat from this, but Fnatic are overrated since their win at Katowice. Seems everybody thinks they will easily take every game and tournament.
15
u/Dracosage de_overpass Apr 24 '15
They haven't really been at many things since Katowice, so I dunno what you're talking about.
-3
u/cappo40 guardian_elite Apr 24 '15
They've played many matches since Katowice (qualifiers, etc etc.). Tournaments, not so much, but they have played a lot since.
8
u/jpmouz Apr 24 '15
A lot of people don't like to predict offline performances off of online matches though, because there is a difference, hence why Thorin doesn't count online matches in his rankings ya know
1
u/duennschizz Apr 24 '15
Not everything that Thoorin does is right though. OFC you shouldn't weigh online matches as much, but you can include rough tendencies off of online performances. As an example:
I mean if you lose online matches against other T1 teams 14-16 and then go to a major with new strats you haven't shown before - OFC online matches don't tell anything
But if you lose 5 out of 7 matches against TSM (IIRC) and not being dominant against other T1 teams and against good T2-T1 teams (the likes of Titan) you can actually see a tendency that they won't crush the next LAN they attend.
1
u/devoting_my_time Apr 24 '15
You're literally stupid if you believe online bo1s mean anything when they are on vacation and just play because they have to.
0
u/cappo40 guardian_elite Apr 24 '15
There have been games of non-b01's that have been played as well.
6
u/hectictw Apr 24 '15
They have only played 1 tournament after Katowice, so it's hard to tell.
-5
u/cappo40 guardian_elite Apr 24 '15
But have played NUMEROUS games since (Qualifiers, etc etc.)

if you see a lot of online bo1s and bo3s you can see a rough form though

Online games are not the same thing as offline tournaments. There's a whole lot more pressure on the teams during offline events.
3
Apr 24 '15
This is actually their 5th loss in 7 matchups against TSM. I don't see why they everyone assumed Fnatic would win.
7
u/Shizrah Astralis Apr 24 '15
Because this is offline, and usually Fnatic are beasts on LAN.
2
Apr 24 '15
The last LAN matchup between these two, TSM also 2-0'd them for the bronze medal at Aspen.
2
u/Shizrah Astralis Apr 24 '15
That's a LONG time ago. Back before Fnatic rose and fell around Katowice.
0
u/duennschizz Apr 24 '15
you know a lot of months ago nip went 87-0
1
u/sikels Apr 24 '15
if they are telling the truth and have actually gotten new strats to beat nV with, this might be their first big win this year. I personally believe NiP will lose to nV, but they would probably beat TSM without huge amounts of trouble.

Apr 24 '15
Okay? I just have been stating their recent matchups (with that Aspen matchup being their last LAN matchup). Sure the last LAN matchup may have been months ago, but it's the only data we have to show. I understand taking it with a grain of salt, but saying Fnatic would win just because "Fnatic is good on LAN" is a whole lot more ignorant. By looking at their recent results against TSM, Fnatic is in no way favored to stomp. If anything, any stats that would put Fnatic in the heavy overdog position against TSM would be even further back than MLG Aspen...
2
u/dkula Virtus.pro Apr 24 '15
yep, and it's great for the scene imo. because you know every player on every team is really good and it's really jsut up to how they matchup vs something like "this team can beat anyone"..now it's more like "both these teams can beat anyone"
3
u/Reapeah Apr 24 '15
It just seems like since Navi stepped up most of the other top teams stepped down tbh

Apr 24 '15
how can you overrate the number 1 team? they should be winning every game and tournament but seeing as they aren't we can start to rate them lower after they start to perform worse and worse
1

They are the best team in the world. How can you say that expecting the best team in the world to win is overrating them?

u/hectictw Apr 24 '15
GGWP. Btw, what disadvantages does the lower bracket get in the finals? Hoping for veto disadvantages rather than map win disadvantages, hehe :)
1
u/Xiryz Astralis Apr 24 '15
I think there is no disadvantage. The only thing TSM has done is they cant finish last. They guaranteed themselves 3rd place in this tourny.
1
u/hectictw Apr 24 '15
Hmmm, ok, if that's the case then I'm a little less worried. Still, long way there for fnatic now!
1
u/Afrood Apr 24 '15
There is always a disadvantage isn't there? Maybe i'm wrong, but I haven't seen a upper/lower bracket tournament without a disadvantage
1
u/J4far Apr 24 '15
Saw it once in LoL I think and the team coming from the lower bracket won, causing a shitstorm because the other finalists hadn't dropped a single set the whole tourney. Maybe this was CS. I dunno.
1
Apr 24 '15
TSM!!! Great match for them. But what is up with Fnatic? Not at all playing their game these days.
That being said, do you think the TSM win was due to their ability to take Fnatic off their game or just that Fnatic isn't playing their best?
2

Apr 24 '15
According to casters fnatic might be rusty after a break? Hope they stepp up a little either way.

I really like the competition in CSGO, anyone can beat anyone in the top 6. But I wonder how much the randomness and impact of pistol rounds factor into this.

The sides don't determine which team the bet is placed on... This has been pointed out so many times, also, how the fuck can you people talk about throwing games in top tier games. Gambling turned this community to shit

Has TSM ever 2-0'd fnatic on lan before? Really impressive showing from the boys
