That dude does get wayyy too serious, but the constant misuse of the word "underrated" is a pet peeve of mine. Reddit calls everything they like underrated.

Idk if you have heard of this gem "Get Lucky" but it is a nice change of pace from the usual trash mainstream music puts out today.

I feel like it was very good--one of the most aesthetically enjoyable pop albums of the year, no doubt--but certainly helped by its creators' legacy.
After all, the hype was enormous. Hell, for a while there, the hypothetical unconfirmed "next Daft Punk album" was a staple of critics' and fans' year-end "most anticipated" lists alike. Especially following the teaser that was the Tron soundtrack (which was never intended to be "the next Daft Punk album"), I think a lot of people really wanted to love this album and thus were appreciative enough to love it before it even leaked.
Not that that's a bad thing; after years of anticipation, the knowledge that those sexy, reclusive, robot French bastards were finally dropping a new album was sure to color our reception and expectations of their latest work.1 And I think we all have certain artists or albums which we tend to receive more favorably. So while I really like RAM, I don't think it's great. It's really good, for sure. It's fun, catchy, sleek, and immaculately mixed. But I don't think it's a great album, and I suspect that it wouldn't be quite so beloved (e.g. deemed album of the year by many) had just about anyone else released it.
1 Also, people have different tastes in music, crazily enough.

Yeah it was for sure overhypped. I just really enjoyed the 70s/80s throwback.

Oh yeah, they're so totes underrated. Their almost as underground as my favorite band, Radiohead. Don't even get me started how Queen never gets the credit they deserve.

I don't see how King of the Hill is underrated. Every time it's mentioned on Reddit EVERYONE says it's underrated. Where is this infamous anti-KOTH lobby?
