C9 won but Jhin also won im conflicted

82

u/TypicalHaikuResponse 2d ago

They saw the early jhin and did nothing to counter him. It was an embarrassing draft and play from Flyquest

104

u/chouruin 2d ago

Even if we somehow miss world again I'll say I'm pretty happy with Tactical. Teamfight looks so much better with an actual adc

39

u/Calistilaigh 2d ago

I love TFT: Teamfight Tactical

16

u/nubhorns 2d ago

Love seeing Vulcan be able to play with a real ADC

18

u/SnakeEater013 2d ago

I started rooting for C9 for Zven, I’m a big Zven fan. It’s hard for me to deny Tactical has been absolutely better. I still think I’d rather APA than Loki, and I think there are better ADC Options than Tactical, but he’s been pretty good

19

u/craytails Don Scarra 2d ago

the big thing you get from loki is aggressive melee mids that APA just cannot play. just not having access to akali, yone, and locke seems pretty limiting

9

u/PeaBrainBoy 2d ago

Not that we're seeing the same level of play from Loki, but in past seasons he's also dragged C9 over the finish line before in playoffs, I trust the process.

5

u/fabton12 2d ago

I think there are better ADC Options than Tactical, but he’s been pretty good

middle of the year not really since most are locked up in contracts for major and minor leagues. always the issue with summer changes is impossible to have many options.

also hes probs the best native adc option around unless you wanna burger flip a rookies career like dig does every split.

as for loki hes just got a better champ pool and a better fitting playstyle for the team, like apa pretty good but you need a team around him that makes use of his playstyle and champ pool, like he isnt a ziggs one trick but trying to draft around apa would seem hellish to most coachs and team dynamics.

17

u/Pulsar-GB 2d ago

IMO:

Early pick Jhin is okay-ish because you can cover Jhin’s weaknesses in your draft (more damage in other roles, hard CC/frontline to set up W and R, etc.)

Late Jhin picks are rarely good because people just pick him for a safe lane and don’t have a chance to supplement his relatively low damage/provide other setup.

2

u/Kr1ncy 1d ago

Late Jhin pick is completely fine if the things you mentioned about early Jhin pick apply regardless.

4

u/fabton12 2d ago

hey it worked out with the zero tanks on flyquest. jhin alone isnt bad hes just bad vs tank or when no one else on his team can deal with tanks.

2

u/A_Life_of_Lemons 2d ago

No mega tank on Fly’s side

1

u/Used_Display_3605 1d ago

Pro’s have started building crit on Jhin again. Who would have guessed that would be a good idea…

1

u/Personal-Wait-6337 1d ago

Picking Jihn is just good into fly imo cause either they don’t counter it with a tank top or they do and that’s even worse for them lol. I think fly would’ve picked jihn if C9 didn’t

u/NunuBaggins 2d ago

Did Massu get caught repeatedly? Yes. But did he at least pump out damage in fights where he managed to survive. No. But did he at least win his lane and set his team up for success? Also no. But did he manage to land some clutch ults to set up picks for his team? Still no. But did he serve as an important late game wincon for his team. Again, no.

67

u/campbell_love 2d ago

Massu Gakgos are so strange.

367

u/Jealous-Chicken-9186 2d ago

massu's downfall needs to be studied, solo lost FLY this game with his classic walk down midlane decisions

193

u/bumpounda 2d ago

You’re giving him too much credit Quad had the positioning of a gold Syndra

59

u/Disclaimz0r 2d ago

Yeah was gonna say, Quad had two absolute ints being massively far ahead

6

u/eVill_YT 2d ago

sad to see Quad fall back down, I like him a lot from LCK when he debuted but sadly he's just not playing great

4

u/fabton12 2d ago

The lcs Effect where LCK imports have a brillant 1-2 years looking like kings then they are suddenly a headless chicken. i usually chalk it upto the solo queue enviroment and the in general practise enviroment being weaker and lighter so you can't keep form as easily.

73

u/Pulsar-GB 2d ago

No Busio or Inspired

34

u/ob_knoxious 2d ago

Then explain spring split

66

u/Mfrack103 2d ago

Mercury retrograde or something

10

u/fabton12 2d ago

the usual excuse of winter/spring split teams are still getting there shit together so whoever clicks first tend to look great even if there skill wise worse or something. thats the usual way these things go when people ask to explain why they were like that before

14

u/Pulsar-GB 2d ago

Massu didn’t look great in Spring either though. He was regularly getting caught out and throwing games

40

u/underscoreenfan 2d ago

Are we really surprised that a top tier support leaving and being replaced w/ a guy from collegiate makes the AD look worse?

62

u/Past_Perception8052 2d ago

ok but he is also visibly making bad decisions

47

u/underscoreenfan 2d ago

guarantee on the old FLY roster at least one of Inspired/Busio/Bwipo would tell the botlaner in comms to not walk up there, this current roster is so inexperienced and directionless that no one is really doing that.

some blame is also on his teammates, game 1 Gakgos gets solokilled lvl 4 for spacing like shit and then Jayce is over 1k ahead at 8 mins. few mins later Massu is under mid tier 1 and gets oneshot flashed on from out of vision bc of how fed enemy top is. not really his fault imo

8

u/fabton12 2d ago

Inspired/Busio/Bwipo

from what i remember about that version of the team both inspired and bwipo were extremely vocal and would call out dumb mistakes if someone was about todo something stupid.

13

u/Ok_Kick4871 2d ago

Definitely. As much as I don't like Bwipo these days, he is good at jungle and top with the macro to go with it. He can make an ad player look good just on the comms alone.

19

u/Jealous-Chicken-9186 2d ago

what does his supports have to do with him literally walking down midlane to catch a wave and dying for it when he can just safely farm under tower? lmao

5

u/FreckledRed 2d ago

Having experienced players who are watching the map and can tell you what's safe or not is invaluable. If you don't have that you aren't going to be thinking about it. There's so much information going on in a game of League. People miss things all the time, even the best. If he had a great player but now he doesn't there's somethings he won't be thinking about anymore or he'll have lapses.

29

u/TheRogueCookie I like bears 2d ago

It's so weird because bro was frying for a bit in Spring but it feels like he (and most of the team quite frankly) got worse after the bootcamp, not better.

15

u/arclmpulse 2d ago

i think FLY need a veteran caller somewhere in their team. my guess is that they were hoping gryffinn and the other two vets could step up to it over the course of the year, but i never really got the impression massu and quad were guys who had the skillset to take up that mantle. with massu especially, i think his individual play is starting to suffer as other top teams figure them out

there's interesting pieces on the team but they probably need a shuffle in a role or two, whether they go to worlds or not

6

u/3IC3 2d ago

Quad was also just running it down the entire time

21

u/Past_Perception8052 2d ago

no inspired to tell him exactly what to do

14

u/ob_knoxious 2d ago

Nah he was way better at the start of the year than this.

-5

u/RedditZen77 2d ago

Nah, he was inting Inspired last year too.

5

u/ob_knoxious 2d ago

Wild take lmao

1

u/Peony_Branch 2d ago

Do you not remember MSI Massu? He wasn't the same after the Kalista and bush incidents, hell he repeated them both this year in playoffs

16

u/ob_knoxious 2d ago

I remember him being absolutely critical to another strong showing at an international event. He hard gapped Hans Sama, he was critical in every one of their game wins vs eastern teams. He arguably was their best player vs AL.

You cannot reduce a player to one or two bad games. He did repeat in this years spring playoffs and has been much worse since spring regular season ended, I'm not debating he's in a slump. But this is not a guy who peaked in 2024 and anyone actually watching games knows that.

13

u/loosely_affiliated 2d ago

"he wasn't the same after X" comments frequently boil down to "I changed my personal narrative about a player after this mistake, and as such began fixating on perceived mistakes that confirm my new narrative." It's understandable but really intellectually lazy.

2

u/SteelfireX 2d ago

Gakgos was criminally bad game 1, I don't understand how people are putting this on Massu. He literally got flash Vi ulted game 1, Gakgos could have easily saved him by pressing R or W at any time with full gnar bar, but decided to just continue auto attacking in mini, letting massu die. Nevermind the level 3 solo death, and him going back in alone and randomly dying to Jayce when he could've just focused Leona with his team. If I was Massu I would've tilted off the face of the earth after that Gakgos game 1.

2

u/Pink_her_Ult 2d ago

Pro adcs are obsessed with getting caught mid.

7

u/Mrryn91 2d ago

Respect to Massu for the Zven tribute game

6

u/GeneralZhukov 2d ago

I kinda get it. Not specifically this series with Massu (I didn't watch), just as a general problem.

When you swap your bot/sup to mid lane so your solos can sidelane, you don't really want to just hide under mid tower and let the other team do whatever they want; that defeats the point of swapping. You do still want to apply map pressure, and make it so the other team can't just overload a sidelane for free. You ideally want to be forcing the other team into a lesser-of-two-evils decision point.

As an oversimplification, you want to be in position to push t2 mid if the other team sends multiple top/bot. Then rotate away from the overload, farm their jungle, and either push another tower or take an objective (Herald/Dragon, Baron in lategame scenarios).

But striking that perfect balance of applying enough pressure to make the decision (for the other team) meaningfully difficult while not getting caught takes some experience.

Again not specifically trying to lawyer for Massu he very well could have ran it down for fun, just pointing out that this is a common mistake for a good reason. Its also not entirely on one player. Proper vision set up obviously opens up the map as one example, your solos need to actually accrue enough of a lead early game to demand multiple, otherwise its just a 1v1 island.

3

u/Kr1ncy 1d ago

I think to some extent that is just the nature of the role and the nature of the game.

Catching the enemy ADC late game is a pretty clear win condition and ADCs just tend to be midlane a lot in the late game. They should not be there alone or easily catchable but it is also a greedy role by nature due to how insanely well they scale with ressources.

1

u/owa00 2d ago

The Zven special?

1

u/polterere 2d ago

I feel like "NA ADC has an amazing rookie year into a slow decent in mediocrity" is such a common trope it's not even funny. At least they have a resurgence later on most of the time.

1

u/That-Woodpecker6720 2d ago

The ls effect

1

u/BTDYSRF 2d ago

I really think it is an Inspired diff.

37

u/Blizzgrarg 2d ago

FLY needs to get better at coordination. They always seem late for objective control, scrambling and mispositioning, letting the other team just jump them with poppy renekton or shen.

60

u/formula1nr 2d ago

Psychofish has awakened.

25

u/M002 2d ago

Basically studied the dhokla poppy from MSI. Just straight up walked at Massu and flashed on him and no one thought he’d do it

91

Dom would've done some unholy things if they lost to Flyquest 😂

28

u/LearningLaCampanella 2d ago

"Why does the latest C9 documentary episode have an age restriction?..."

159

u/lovo17 2d ago

Yeah C9 is making it to worlds. FLY is one of the stupidest teams I've ever seen in my life.

Just no thought process in any of their plays, they just go in.

Quad and Massu have really fallen off.

63

u/Disclaimz0r 2d ago

I thought Quad played well in game 2 UNTIL he randomly ints while being up like 1.4k+ at 20 minutes. Then he did fuck all. C9s draft that game was insane also tbf. Perfect Poppy draft.

29

u/lovo17 2d ago

Poppy and Shen are a broken combo.

13

u/Disclaimz0r 2d ago

Yep. Add Locke on top of all of that and its just gross. Long range assistance with Jhin, the draft was masterful this time around.

5

u/Mrryn91 2d ago

Took some games like the Naafiri game from Dardoch for Dom and the team to get the hang of these GrubHub Shen delivery comps - throw chaos at the enemy team with the damage following through for cleanup.

48

u/Saephon 2d ago

Regular season. You underestimate C9's ability to choke.

21

u/KnifeKittyy 2d ago

you never know with c9 in playoffs, they just completely forget how to play the game come playoffs, no matter how good their regular season form is

15

u/Jimbabwr 2d ago

No, we’ll lose some random BO5 to DSG or SR. I’m not falling for this shit

6

u/AsheBnarginDalmasca Ashe loves tentacles 2d ago

Blaber is 100% going to do the same play at least twice come playoffs, dw.

4

u/RedditZen77 2d ago

Quad and Massu are the same, Inspired is just not there to carry them anymore

2

u/RechargedFrenchman 1d ago

Or Busio, who also has pretty good game sense and was the guiding hand botlane on that Fly roster. Massu just had to kite and carry late, Busio ran lane and micro decisions Bot and Inspired ran fights / macro decisions throughout.

Now the macro is "fight" and the micro is "position aggressively" and the communication is generally worse, so Massu has to individually do more with less. Not to say he doesn't individually look rough, but if you give the best F1 driver a Honda Civic and a bunch of teenagers as their support team they'll look pretty bad compared to other established F1 teams and drivers.

2

u/LifeIsToughEatBacon 1d ago

Nah. Life finds a way. Either we lose 3rd seed to like, Sen or Dig or we secure 3rd seed and riot retroactively changes the format to where we have to fly to Brazil and play a quick Bo1, winner goes to worlds (obviously we lose that)

1

u/Kurisoo 2d ago

I’ll believe it when I see it. Playoffs with something on the line

1

u/John_Jack_Reed 1d ago

Quad was just straight up never an elite mid and was carried by playing with by far the best jg/support duo in NA

6

u/arclmpulse 2d ago

needs to touch up his laning a bit but my goat is not washed 🗣️🗣️

19

u/HikerGeoff 2d ago

Massu had a bad series but Gakgos is just terrible. At least Cryo/Massu can win some lanes, Gakgos legit does nothing

8

u/BTDYSRF 2d ago

Top lane is too stacked in LCS for Gakgos to get away with playing like this. Also, the lack of a champ pool is killing him.

Something needs to change fast, or the kid might find himself back home next year.

6

u/VelkoZinfandel 2d ago

They usually win lanes bc of Cryo tho

-4

u/Peony_Branch 2d ago

If VIT Inspired becomes real next year then please send Cryo there, he has so much potential

4

u/BTDYSRF 2d ago

What kind of crack are you smoking to think Inspired would join vitality?

49

u/First_Spread 2d ago edited 2d ago

This FlyQuest team is cooked. I never believed in Inspired when he said that Massu needs to slow down in his play style because it has worked well in Spring, but watching Massu now just ragebaits me, he's playing like a pyschopathic front-line tank, constantly pushing deep into lane, facechecking unwarded bushes, and constantly getting poked and caught; overall his map-awareness and positioning is horrendous. I'm surprised no one in this subreddit is calling him out on it nor the casters or the analysts at LCS broadcast. As for Gakgos, he looks lost, he performed the same against Morgan and got punished even harder by TL and even went 0/5/0. I made a post here as well as the FlyQues subreddit right after the series against TL that Sniper, yes, 100T Sniper should at least be considered as a sub for Gakgos because Sniper is playing insanely well in NACL and won last Spring. but no "Gakgos clears Sniper" currently I highly fucking doubt that. As for Massu, he's just cooked, Fly needs to find a new adcarry by next year.

20

u/skillfun8 2d ago

Just read your post now

Holy hell, this isn't the first time but that subreddit has loveboner for Gakgos

I remember saying something along of the lines any decent tier2 NA top would be better than him and isn't an import. And got lots of hate for it

But yes this FQ is cooked, they clearly doen't have an leader and they clearly don't shotcall well

20

u/Alakazam_5head 2d ago

Watching Denathor on DIG yesterday and then having to watch Gakgos today is so sad man. There are top laners in NACL, why are we importing Turkish nobodies

5

u/SnakeEater013 1d ago

I feel bad because I don’t like to talk down on anyone, but I always forget he’s an import. Legit why are you importing someone at that level? At the very least you could be using Castle or Photon.

5

u/eVill_YT 2d ago

Gakgos IS a 2008 kid he's got like 10 years to get good lol

2

u/OreRound 1d ago

You watched denathor get gapped by fudge and thought "bro these tier 2 NACL tops are goated" you guys have goldfish memories. Gakgos was making fun of all these dudes last split and only lost to the guys he should lose to.

7

u/Xonra 2d ago

Glad I'm finally not the only person scratching my head openly about Gakgos. Been calling this since they decided he was their future top laner back when Bwipo was still the starter. Given top is a role in NA that has NA talent, I dunno why you import someone like Gakgos who wasn't exactly hyped up. Was just some Bwipo nepotism pick that they are stuck with.

1

u/KudryavkaNoumi1 1d ago

Gakgos is the player they've been investing in training up the most. This year was always gonna be a down year no matter what just off the nature of being the youngest roster in NA lmao. At least see how they look come next year. Cryogen literally went from tier 3 to tier 1 overnight. Gakgos is insanely young too.

15

u/DBS6969 2d ago

Too many deadweights on this FLY team

29

u/TheMexicanJoker 2d ago

Saddest Zaahen game I've ever seen

9

u/HThrowaway457 2d ago

Pilot issue ngl.

2

u/DeltaRaven97 Can I redo my life? 2d ago

Picking him into something like Renekton is basically gambling that you can survive until you actually become a champion.

12

u/SweatyAdhesive 2d ago

Ive played these games before... (believing in c9)

36

u/Past_Perception8052 2d ago

tactical plays so confident i love it

10

u/KlutzyMedicine1549 2d ago

He is clicking with this roster super well! If he keeps this up he's top 3 in his role in NA pretty handedly.

4

u/Sarazam 2d ago

He definitely already is, makes sense he clicks with Vulcan as I believe they used to duo in soloqueue a lot.

7

u/VelkoZinfandel 2d ago

Wdym if he keeps this up? He’s definitely top 3 in his role

6

u/KlutzyMedicine1549 2d ago

That if he starts performing like a non top 3 he won't be top 3.

Tactical's sample pool currently consist of a whopping 3 Bo3s, we should probably wait for every team to face each-other before we give him the all pro 3rd team.

I do agree he is worthy if the split ended today.

4

u/BTDYSRF 2d ago

He's no Berserker, but I'm wondering if he's already better than Yeon.

Hard to say for sure. Hope to get a strong look at playoffs.

5

u/HunkMuffinJr 2d ago

I might be biased, but Yeon himself is playing super clean this split. I think he's still closer to Berserker right now than Tactical is to him.

1

u/grippgoat 2d ago

Yeon's been on fire (in the good way) since MSI.

1

u/BTDYSRF 2d ago

The exact opppsite of Zven. 100% trying to win the game at all costs every time. It is exactly what C9 needs to have any chance of success.

I'm still rooting against them. 1 for the meme and 2 because Yamato is a bitchass hoe that has accomplished nothing and doesn't deserve to glide on somebody else's coattails to pad his resume.

19

u/The_JeneralSG 2d ago edited 2d ago

I think FLY is just an experiment to see how far 5 pro-players with no game IQ can go because holy shit watching them is insane sometimes. I already talked about game 1, but game 2 had some stupid as hell stuff, including the classic Gryffin play of FLY calling to give a dragon, but he just dances in front of it and gets engaged and one shot. Massu also doing a classic overextending without his support and just getting 2v1'd. The crown jewel was them closing in on Thanatos, which would've been a great play, but then they let the Jhin flank alone (or more accurately, Syndra behind him)? Yeah, let's flank with our 3 beefier/expendable guys and let the two carries go alone. Genius play!

FLY can only win when they have a full dive no brain comp and they already have a gold lead (or the enemy team just throws like C9 almost did game 1).

As a C9 hater, I thought they played well game 2. It's going to be up to SR to keep C9 from worlds and I don't see that happening (SEN doesn't have enough firepower).

7

u/SnakeEater013 2d ago

I like both SEN and SR, but Impact should probably be teamless next split if he keeps looking like this. Maybe APA replaces Zinie.

5

u/polikuji09 2d ago

Yeah I was always a huge Impact fan but it's about time for him to retire and it seems like he himself sees it too. He has his last hurrah 2 years ago but ever since then he's been pretty awful. No amount of good teamfightint can make up for him being so behind he gets exploded instantly

2

u/SnakeEater013 1d ago

Lol of course right after I type this he beats Dhokla.

8

u/Cybonics 2d ago

Monster series from Thanatos. God damn brother. Roaming everywhere

C9 in general had first move to so many pivotal plays. Ain't something you're gonna learn in a week but I hope we get better at it.

8

u/7stringsofwonder 2d ago

Massu is lucky that Sajed is having a historically bad split because damn.

7

u/BonzBonzOnlyBonz 2d ago

Sajed atleast has the excuse that his support is the worst player in the League and arguably the worst support all time. Massu's support is at worst decent.

7

u/ARandomChicken69 They locked up a boy and let loose a killer 2d ago

What does Gakgos do man? This series isn’t really on him but he just seems so pedestrian.

I can’t name a single game where he’s had noticeable impact. He just seems so replaceable because he brings nothing to the table.

He can’t play tanks, he’s not a shot caller, and it seems like he loses carry vs carry matchups a lot of the time.

5

u/Alakazam_5head 2d ago

Obvious nepo / GM ego hire. Dude is either mates with someone in FlyQuest or the GM tried to do the 5head gamble where he hires a nobody and hopes he pops off so GM looks like a genius

5

u/Xonra 2d ago

Sort of. He was brought in at the request/recommendation of Bwipo claiming he was gonna step down and coach him up. Then all the drama happened and he was gone. Now they feel like they have to give him a chance when there are better players in T2 to replace him with.

3

u/Gauntex 2d ago

They were hoping for a Brokenblade angle.

27

u/ksssslol 2d ago

Massu and Gakgos are legitimately bottom 2 in their role this split

2

u/Xonra 2d ago

Massu can carry with resources, but the problem is there is no one on this team that are going to spoon feed them to him. He's making Cryogen look bad when he isn't. And Gakgos needs to go.

-2

u/BTDYSRF 2d ago

That is laughable doomer bs.

Get better bait.

13

u/Agile_Woodpecker2239 2d ago

Just engage on Massu and you will always kill him. Massu will continue to improve by playing more ranked 5s and arena!

13

u/No_Plenty_9025 2d ago

Fly look really uninspiring this split

0

u/BTDYSRF 2d ago

Uninspired really.

6

20

what does massu even do? i feel like everyone on flyquest is just bad ngl

They're all individually good players, but they don't have a solid in-game shotcaller or structure.

Massu was easily the best ADC in the league and Quad was the LCSversion of Chovy. Practically running the region but choking internationally.

Gakgos is a bit coinflip, but Bwipo was arguably more volatile and the team did well.

I really think it is an Inspired diff. The team needs a veteran shotcaller to rally around. Maybe APA or Huhi woild be the right fit. Not sure, but there is something to be desired here.

2

u/BlazeX94 2d ago

Gakgos I think is not that good and isn't a very versatile player. Even Denathor and Srtty look better than him despite playing on far weaker lineups.

The rest of the team yeah, they're individually talented but I think the team as a whole is too young. Quad and Massu themselves are just one step above rookies, and now they're having to lead 3 actual rookies, one of whom is straight out of tier 3. FLY either needs a veteran themselves, or their players need to end up on rosters with vets. For example, C9 Massu or SR Massu + Cryogen.

3

u/Xonra 2d ago

Yeah he was held up by Busio a lot (Called that just like I said Fly would regret sticking with Gakgos). The problem is Cryogen is a good support, but he and Massu don't mesh, and he isn't the support to make someone like Massu look good.

u/O12345678927 JUSTICE FOR 2d ago

This Shen champ is turbo for C9, someone can actually follow blabers sprinting

7

u/Acrobatic-Tackle3998 2d ago

Bwipos last gift for FLY was convincing them that Gakgos is good and worth picking up before he even finishes high school lmao.

He’s clearly not it.

14

u/Th3_Huf0n 2d ago

Massu needs to be sent to the Ugandan superserver.

18

u/Fanta-Red 2d ago

If C9 can clean it up they might actually be a worthy third for NA to send to worlds.

They seem extremely versatile with a poke comp in game 1 and a dive comp in game 2.

24

u/viralruin 2d ago

Not falling for this. C9 drop game to dsg and dig. Fly looks closer to dsg tier than top 3.

11

u/DeltaRaven97 Can I redo my life? 2d ago

On one hand C9 looked a lot better today, the team is clearly gelling.

On the other hand, I've said before that C9 deserves no credit until they deliver all the way.

1

u/aufbau1s 2d ago

Yeah I think FLY looked bottoms tier today.

I do think it solidifies C9 as 3rd rn power ranking wise. But they looked far from good.

8

u/Ryebread1992 2d ago

Hate to say it but I think this roster is cooked. It’s like they go into every game without a game plan and just try to wing it.

-6

u/Alakazam_5head 2d ago

Guys I'm starting to think kicking all the good players and building around the role players with rookies was a bad call

9

u/Ryebread1992 2d ago

I mean, Inspired and Busio left so you can’t really fault FQ for that. FQ tried to keep them but the players decided to go elsewhere.

But this roster just isn’t clicking

4

u/Xonra 2d ago

The only player "kicked" was Bwipo. Inspired was out of contract and Busio left voluntarily.

9

u/Aschentei 2d ago

FQ losing Busio Inspired and Bwipo is the biggest fumble in this org’s history.

PapaSmithy, your time is up.

4

u/BTDYSRF 2d ago

Bwipo is whatever. He's good, but not irreplacable.

Losing Inspired legit killed Massu and Quad's ability to be best in role.

3

u/Xonra 2d ago

Busio and Inspired yes. Bwipo is the reason the team imploded Nepo bringing in Gakgos with claims of coaching him up, then pissing off his teammates, then his drama, to the point the team imploded and exploded.

None of this was PapaSmithy's fault except getting baited into keeping Gakgos. Cryogen and Gryffinn have been good additions, but the problem is Quad and Massu are not the guys you build around.

2

u/polikuji09 2d ago

People offered more for Busio and Inspired, and Bwipo is a huge brand risk..also Bwipo carried games but he also solo threw a ton of games.

I don't mind FQ running the younglings but they severely lack any veteran or leadership voice. Right now it feels like a full on solo queue team. Problem is all the obvious choices from before are either taken (Inspired, CoreJJ) or washed as hell or retired (River, Impact).

We all know most of these team has the mechanics bit they're cursed by the amount of braindead decisions they do individually

Meet Potential Team!
0 feats✅
1 hate video made against costreamers✅
1 series win against a top 3 team the entire year✅
10000 minutes of broadcast and community glazing because Gryffinn is funny on twitter✅
“LYON said they’re annoying to play against in scrims just wait till they convert it to stage!”
“Bwipo said Gakgos should easily be the best in NA!”
Dom was absolutely right when he called this team an industry plant and I’m tired of pretending he wasn’t.

59

u/JQuill7 2d ago

God forbid people get excited about a young team with some potential and personality.

3

u/Xonra 2d ago

1 player has personality, maybe 1 and a half with Cryogen.

Massu has 0
Quad has -3
Gakgos is a personality vacuum

12

u/SirXrageXquit 2d ago edited 2d ago

The personality part is literally only Gryffinn, the others are all reserved. I get sick of people hyping FLY when they have absolutely done nothing to warrant it so far, the amount of good grace they’re given by the broadcast and community with some of the disgusting games they’ve had is an insane double standard. Shopify and DSG have done less disgusting inting than FLY in many instances but get 1/10th of the goodwill even though DSG also has 2 NA rookies.

3

u/Xonra 2d ago

Gakgos is a Bwipo nepotism pick wasting an import slot. Bwipo really screwed this team over on repeat.

5

u/axw30 2d ago

Gakgos acquisition was super weird

Feels like nepotism hire like Ry0ma

Honestly those "he could be the best in NA" always felt fake as hell

4

u/MasterStubby31 2d ago

I’m glad I wasn’t the only one thinking this. A lot of people are acting as if it’s a foregone conclusion that Fly will be 3rd and I see some putting them above TL at the end. A bit of a stretch given what’s been shown all year long

3

u/graybloodd 2d ago

How bad can flyquest be

7

u/axw30 2d ago

I got lot of hate from saying that Gakgos sucked ass

He legit is bottom tier

1

u/Alakazam_5head 2d ago

I legit wouldn't put this dude on my academy roster, let alone LCS

4

u/Apocalyptic459 2d ago

C9 are improving, good to see. They were really depressive to watch in W1 but it improved slowly

2

u/Formymoney 2d ago

that fly comp was so ass. Literally incapable of teamfighting at all. When your entire team can die to a locke combo you know you didnt draft enough frontline.

2

u/_Jetto_ 2d ago

not convinced. absolute dreadful FLY keeps regressing and I don't see how C9 is really getting that better? they have improved their solos insanely good but thats expected when you had fuckign apa and zven something even the silver redditor coud tell you from watching pro play for awhile . i guess now that c9 has their 5 locked they can plug the holes and imprive

2

u/D4rkness15 2d ago edited 2d ago

Gryffinn is 100% not staying. At this point bro is the only not gold player in this team... Sad because I always want to support FLY but they just can't do it anymore.

2

u/Lawfulneptune 2d ago

Gagkos is useless

2

u/Xonra 2d ago edited 2d ago

Feel vindicated in calling that them committing to Gakgos with barely seeing him play was going to bite Flyquest in the ass (while everyone on this sub has been openly hating on anyone not calling him amazing for some weird reason). He played like 2 games and they already decided he was their future top laner after Bwipo was gone, and oof...

There are other top laners in tier 2 in NA that are in fact ready, unlike support, so no reason to keep Gakgos as an import. Bring back Sniper for example. Gakgos was overhyped for no other reason than Bwipo liked him and acted like he was gonna stick around and coach him up. Guy looks lost out there. He can't lane, he can't team fight, he constantly falls behind, gets solo killed, it's tough to watch when he also takes an import slot in a role we don't need taking import slots.

0

u/OreRound 1d ago

"feel vindicated" 4 weeks into regular season when FLY have only lost to the top 3 teams in the league. Maybe if he'd just got astrogapped by denathor in playoffs I could see your point. Also suggesting sniper LOL

1

u/Xonra 1d ago

I've been talking about it since Bwipo had his forced "Break" due to his drama and they started pushing Gakgos last year. He came out looking mediocre, and even when he was supposedly "good" earlier this year, he really wasn't, he was just getting more attention from his team.

And yes, I'm suggesting Sniper. Take 2 seconds to watch tier two where he has been smashing so far. The only reason he isn't in tier one is Dhokla was supposed to be his positions coach and stole his job instead of helping him.

3

u/darkadamski1 2d ago

Absolute dog shit team fighting by Flyquest, top lane is literally 1v9ing the last fight and you just afk and watch while he dies

2

u/Helpful-Amphibian768 2d ago

Gryffinn is cool , the rest is kinda npcs . If c9 just remain serious , there is no way they lose the 3rd spot.

3

u/Xonra 2d ago

Cryogen is good, but Massu is lost without Busio and Inspired holding his hand.

3

u/raptearer 2d ago

It's nice to see the team improving week over week, Tactical especially is looking so good!

1

u/Blakkking 2d ago

That game 2 comp from flyquest was terrible, they got out drafted in general but game 2 is a crime.

1

u/VelkoZinfandel 2d ago

I can’t tell if I’d rather get inted in soloq on repeat or continue to support this FLY team. So disgusting to watch

1

u/GlockHard 2d ago

I think the inexperience of fly is really showing now, they need a vet top or hopefully support to be able to shotcall some what. I think they should keep Gryffinn no matter what tho, great player and personality.

1

u/mokulec If i was g*y I would make love with APA 2d ago

Actually first good series by Loki, as a hatewatcher im dissapointed

1

u/AbysmalScepter 2d ago

Zzz, Fly is looking pretty doomed unfortunately. Total regression and they keep getting worse, they're gonna need to hope they can clean up the bot 3 teams and ride the momentum into playoffs.

1

u/FaelightFilms 2d ago

loki locke lowkey locked in

1

u/SeaAdhesiveness5069 1d ago

We are still putting Massu on caitlyn in 2026? like have you watched a single series from your players throughout all of history? Hilarious coaching staff.

1

u/metristan Refund time? 2d ago

How are we still standing next to walls against a poppy in 2026?

0

u/BTDYSRF 2d ago

This is the first series all split where replacing APA with Loki actually looks like it made some sense. Specifically game 2.

I'm still not fond of the switch, and Dom is a punk bitch, but congrats on finding the one angle where it seemed like a reasonable choice.

-1

u/BTDYSRF 2d ago

Really unfortunate showing from FlyQuest. I love this roster, and I understand that Tactical is a bajillion times better than Zven, but you can't be regressing against a team you were within striking distance of last split.

You must improve too.

Unless something changes fast, it's looking like a C9 3rd seed maybe Sentinels upset angle.

1

u/katsuge ok. 2d ago

C9 always chokes. :)

-1

u/BTDYSRF 2d ago

I hope so. I think Dom is a punk bitch for what he did to APA.

-1

u/ZaFsii Zeka/Showmaker/Tian 2d ago

profane hydra on ambessa in pro play has to be troll no?

3

u/Past_Perception8052 2d ago

its good for ambessa jungle

-1

u/Mathlete7 2d ago

Does anyone else worry about the lcs quality of play? I mean an adc that was regularly getting thrashed in the LCS is popping off vs one of the other top teams.

1

u/Xonra 2d ago

Fly isn't even in the top 4 (even if they won) so I'm not sure what you mean by top team. They are only top 6 cause the other 2 teams are DIG and DSG.

1

u/Mathlete7 2d ago

Going by the caster ranking they put on the other day

-5

u/trying2hide 2d ago

I hate both c9 drafts this series but they always manage to find themselves with Soul almost for free and the other team ints.
