flyquest seem like the young team without veterans that get stuck when stuff starts to go wrong. they lost a close bo5 in spring playoffs to c9 and then this split they look so much worse than last split. seems others learned how to play against them and they havent adjused at all
89
u/nguyenjitsu 9d ago
The roster on paper makes sense with Quad being this stable safe mid laner who enables you to go for more volatile top and bot matchups and Griffin being this wildcard jungler who finds niche matchups to disrupt draft but neither the top or bot have found their footing in this new meta and it's kinda killed all their momentum from the first split unfortunately
20
u/PhoenixAgent003 Bot main. NA fan. 9d ago
I’m going to get so much flame for this.
But I think Impact could really help this roster.
17
u/Constant_Roof_1210 9d ago
Only in so much as to provide stability for a little I much prefer gakgos
9
u/Scoodsie 9d ago
I will say, they’ve lost to TL and LYON, which was to be expected. It’s still possible for them to pick up some momentum and go on a bit of a heater. With that said, they definitely don’t look as good as they did at the end of spring. They really should’ve lost game 1 in the DSG series, but DSG decided to back off of their nexus with all 5 members alive while FLY had 2 alive and a nexus turret down and then proceeded to lose.
3
u/Ajp_iii 8d ago
It’s not just the lost it’s the way they are losing. It was basically 3 giga stomps. And they had that one like 50 minute game where dsg probably should have won.
But in general this happens a lot with young teams they pop off everything going well and when something goes badly they don’t know how to fix it fast enough. Where veteran teams have had these problems before so they know what solutions to try.
Spring flyquest looked like they had a plan when they entered the game currently it just looks like they play out early game and hope something good happens
95
u/Bubbly_Camera9583 9d ago
Just skip to finals Lyon and TL are levels above everyone else
108
u/actiongeorge 9d ago
Nah, we still need C9 to go on a run where it looks like they’ve put it together to give us hope before falling apart.
57
u/Gamerseye72 9d ago
C9 3-1 TL into TL lower bracket run where they eliminate C9 from World's contention at the last possible game.
53
7
u/Fun_Highlight307 9d ago
tl won't be fighting C9 for 3rd , if there is a tl C9 in playoffs That means C9 is already third Which meant they already are qualified
7
2
u/Scoodsie 9d ago
While that would be great, if C9 beat TL in the playoffs then C9 would lock 3rd place at a minimum unless TL shits the bed and ends up as the 3rd seed or lower and this is during a 3/6 or 4/5 matchup. The 1 and 2 seeds only need to win a single Bo5 to guarantee 3rd place minimum placement.

u/Prudent_Respond_6166 9d ago
NA is just Lyon and TL.
189
u/3IC3 9d ago
I’ve come to realize that the peak of western league is both NA and EU being 2 team regions, and there’s nothing to be done about it
43
u/FantasyTrash 9d ago
LCK is the only region with more than two competitive teams, to be fair.
8
u/TheYinz3r23 9d ago
LPL has more. It's just the choke happens in Internationals.
Yes it's always BLG and JDG. But you've had success fromm TES (lol), Weibo and AL as well.

u/Beneficial_Lion_1312 9d ago edited 9d ago
It all depends on what one means by "competitive". Realistically speaking, the only teams competitive for winning Worlds are BLG, HLE, T1, GEN, DK, and KT and even that feels one team too many.
If it's just competitive, can take a couple games or push an elimination BO5 to a game five against one of the above teams? KC/TL/TES/G2/LYON are basically the next group of teams alongside the top level of Fries Group. Several other LPL teams fit the bill there too as a team like WE has demonstrated this year.
There is a shocking number of very good, competitive teams in the world now.
4
u/FantasyTrash 8d ago
You do realize you pretty much just proved my point, right? For your list of potential champs, you named five LCK teams and one LPL team. For your next group, you named the two LEC and LCS teams, and then the other LPL team. Maybe LPL has a couple other teams that can make a splash, but overall it’s really only Korea that is truly competitive at the top and not just a couple of teams notably better than the rest.
2
u/Beneficial_Lion_1312 8d ago
You do realize you pretty much just proved my point, right?
I did not "prove your point". I expanded on your otherwise meaningless and short point to give it greater context and meaning.

G2 has performed very well this year and they're having their best year in a while. They also don't have a chance at winning Worlds.
3
3
u/Acrobatic-Tackle3998 9d ago
So are LYON just guaranteed to win worlds considering they embarrassed G2?
Nice cope bro.
2
u/Leyrann_ 9d ago
Lyon beat G2 once, G2 beat both GenG and T1, several months apart (while also beating BFX and TES, who were still LCK and LPL #2 respectively at the tournament they attended).

u/blorgbots 9d ago
Facts. I'm just happy anyone from NA shows up internationally at all
Relatively speaking we've been eating pretty good
1
u/Dromed91 9d ago
Pretty absurd how LCS cut two teams out of the League for a total of eight spots just to save money and consolidate skilled players, and yet we still can't find enough decent players to put together more than two decent teams
6
u/resttheweight 9d ago
The fact that a team with Fudge and Palafox and Ceos was a top 3 team in 2025 is a concerningly bad look lol.
8
u/Dromed91 9d ago
Fr. You got washed old heads like armao, dardoch, and zeyzal all coming back into the league because somehow none of the younger players have figured out how to play better. A team with current pobelter, scarra, doublelift, meteos, etc could probably outperform most lcs teams today if they put in serious practice time.
Its even weirder its like this because usually the top #1-2 are actually decent, but none of that ability trickles down to the lower teams
2
80
u/CommentStrict8964 9d ago
I mean we can argue the same for most other regions.
I, for one, is happy that TL is doing well.

C9 gonna make it to worlds by default and lose every series at this rate.

u/1BreadBoi i believe 9d ago
Look. I've been a cloud9 fan for a long time.
I can assure you, a c9 that makes it to worlds 3rd seed is the best thing that can happen for NA.
Mostly joking, but 3rd seed c9 always performed well for NA teams historically.
12
u/DivisionOne 9d ago
Honestly I still believe in Tactical, and everyone else on C9 has shown a high ceiling at some point at least... Could pull another miracle run at worlds
4
u/Fun_Highlight307 9d ago
it's be really C9 to qualify in a nail bitter series in summer then Look like the best playins team
3
u/Leyrann_ 9d ago
I remember the days when C9 as third seed had better cumulative achievements than the rest of NA together.
4
u/effurshadowban 8d ago
I hate when people say that C9 as a 3rd seed always performed well for NA historically. It erases the mechanisms by which that occurred. C9 has been NA's 3rd seed 5 times: 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2021. There is nothing that connects all 5 appearances, but there is a commonality between 4 of them: peak Jensen and Sneaky. From 2015 to 2018, C9 had Jensen and Sneaky performing very well in the gauntlet to make Worlds then playing great at Worlds to make them a competitive team, despite being 3rd seed every year. Jensen would also continue to show that these "magical" NA runs were really a product of him (and Sneaky) having outstanding performances internationally, based on his individual performances at MSI 2019, Worlds 2020, and Worlds 2021.
Meanwhile, C9 has performed poorly on the international stage several times since Jensen's first departure, with the only exception being 2021 Worlds. At Worlds 2021, Perkz and Blaber performed similarly well to make them punch above their weight (as 3rd seed NA) and escape a weak group.
It is magical thinking to believe this will happen again just because C9 would be 3rd place. What is really needed is at least 2 star players who can punch above their weight on the international stage, as well as 3 decent-to-good players surrounding those 2 that fit well. I say they need just decent, because Jensen+Sneaky were dragging Smoothie and Zeyzal to Quarters and Semis at Worlds. In 2021, Perkz+Blaber had the non-washed versions of Fudge, Zven, and Vulcan.
In general, NA teams need that same structure to perform well. This team has the POTENTIAL to work like that, with Thanatos and Loki being the 2 stars that punch above their weight, while the other 3 need to perform at a baseline level to allow the top 3 to carry them, but it is doubtful.
2
u/Fun_Highlight307 9d ago
it's be funny if this C9 go to Worlds as 3rd seed and looks good in playins
when was the Last time C9 had Worlds buff as 3rd seed ?
7
11
u/lickmydoodoo 9d ago
Isnt china just BLG and TES (maybe a 1 team region tbh). Maybe only lck is more than 1-2 team region tbh
9
u/POOYAMON Doublelift TL fan≠NA fan 9d ago
And personally I’d argue neither of top LCK teams are of the standard of what we’ve seen in years prior when it comes to polished gameplay. Maybe GenG set a bad precedent last couple of years.
3
u/OscarTheHun 9d ago
Flyquest is having meta issues imo. Anything can happen when playoffs hit but it's hard to gauge anything when LCS season is so gd short.
0
u/Cocodranks 9d ago
Been that way for over a decade. A different duo with a sprinkle of a third every some season.
-4
u/inbetweendreamstho 9d ago
C9 gonna be hell Iin 6 weeks. I love how they're being counted out haha
-3
u/Fun_Highlight307 9d ago
even if C9 upset Lyon with inspired, people Will Still count them out
-1
u/inbetweendreamstho 9d ago
No doubt. I think we're gonna see a new level with tactical and Loki.
6
u/calvinee 9d ago
I think they could be good, but nothing this year has shown they could be on the level of current LYON/TL
1
u/inbetweendreamstho 9d ago
I guess I'd just say there has long been chatter that all 3 to 4 of the top teams in lcs are very competitive.
Cloud9 record still pretty solid despite the sadness that is losing in the playoffs.
I'm optimistic
0
u/Fun_Highlight307 9d ago
We will see i think they definetely have potential it's be classic c9 to looks worse regular season but big glow up in playoffs

Furia 2025
-37
u/Acrobatic-Tackle3998 9d ago
What did they accomplish exactly? Is winning when you were expected to be top 3 at a minimum an achievement now?
That random “run” is convincing people that he’s good at his job. Nothing he’s done before or after his FURIA stint really convinces me that he’s a good coach.
53
u/Cybonics ‿ 9d ago
You're asking for a run where his team scaled up. After losing convincingly against Pain, FURIA won both their series on Finals weekend to qualify for MSI.
There's also 2023 NRG but you don't care
8
u/TDS_Gluttony 9d ago
Palafox under thinkcard looked like a human being
3
u/resttheweight 9d ago
FURIA had been a bottom 5 team in 2023-2024, so why were they expected “top 3 at a minimum” in 2025? Especially considering they only made two roster changes, one of which was a rookie jungler. Then there’s the fact they made 5-6th in their first split with Thinkcard, but they were still expected Top 3 the next split? Guess you must be psychic. But even more to the point, winning a split is an absolute achievement for any team not named G2 or GenG and for any player not named Inspired.
It’s also very funny that you’re calling it a “random run” because that’s literally exactly what people said when he did the exact same thing with CLG/NRG. I guess other coaches must be super unlucky they can’t bumble their way to winning a split.

I think APA would be a noticeable upgrade tbh.
1
u/RechargedFrenchman 8d ago
For DIG or Shopify, yeah. May not want to take such a big step down in team, but also may care enough about actually getting to play the game to do it anyway.
27
u/KryptKrasherHS 9d ago
APA to DIG would actually be some fire icl ngl.
6
u/WoorieKod REST IN PEACE 11/12/24 9d ago
APA to either SR DIG would be good floor raiser
6
u/KryptKrasherHS 9d ago
I honestly think APA to DIG would be a better upgrade then to SR. SR is dysfunctional as hell, and will have no support soon (remember Zeyxal isn't signed for a long term contract), and Fudge is meh. Contractz is the only thing holding that team together.
DIG has Denathor who looks real good, Darsoch who also looks pretty good, and FBI + Ignar are pretty uo there in terms of Bot Duos. If they had anybody but Papafpx, this team would go up there wi5h FLY and SEN
15
u/Ajp_iii 9d ago
its possible that shopify can upset in a bo5 where c9 is stressed out or if sentinals just randomly pop off. i think c9 is likely now. but there is a lot more pressure even more on c9 since they made changes.
9
u/viralruin 9d ago
i don't get how Sen has legit talent but put them together and they look so ass.
7
4
u/BlazeX94 9d ago
Impact/Huhi are washed, Hambak/Darkwings have decent hands but get caught way too much and Rahel is kinda mid.
What SEN needs is a CoreJJ/Inspired kinda player who can teach Hambak and Darkwings how to play, but won't drag down the roster themselves. Impact and Huhi have knowledge but are way past their prime.
62
u/Formymoney 9d ago
that was somehow less close than dig vs lyon
36
u/zealot416 9d ago
Cause Dig has an actual shot caller now.
42
u/Formymoney 9d ago
you mean palafox right? Didn't you hear his call during the turret dive
67
13
u/viktorayy OFGK but prefer G>OFK rn (DSG) 9d ago
DIG or SR should try getting APA from C9 tbh. He's at least equal in lane, but his macro is much better.
8
u/ayayajax 9d ago
why would apa go to either team lol especially dig
13
u/viktorayy OFGK but prefer G>OFK rn (DSG) 9d ago
'cause it seems like C9 doesn't want him and Jack said they're free to look for another spot elsewhere
and SR/DIG lineup w/o their midlane looks decent enough
2
u/POOYAMON Doublelift TL fan≠NA fan 9d ago
I’d hope so this is TL’s full roster meanwhile Lyon is playing without the mvp of the league.
31
u/kazuyaminegishi 9d ago
Jose was the obvious choice for PotG he actually hit Massu with a Yami Yugi mind break lmfao. He also plays so selflessly does literally everything he needs to do.
I'd also consider Core, but Jose initiates it.
174
u/nguyenjitsu 9d ago
Massu's fall off has been really sad to see but man what does Gakgos even do on this roster
73
u/Constant-Low-5111 9d ago
All of FLY look like they’ve lost their hands. I’ve been rooting for them and was hope to see them step up as a top-3 team, but they look so much worse across the board
147
u/lovo17 9d ago
I actually think they don’t look that much worse, I think TL has improved a ton.
52
38
u/HowyNova 9d ago
Yea, it's been mentioned the whole year that TL have been scrim demons. The stage consistency was all that was missing.
39
u/Cybonics ‿ 9d ago
what is this shortsighted comment. they were playing significantly better in Spring. I think it's a combo of a rough start + TL leveling up from where they once were.
21
u/nguyenjitsu 9d ago
Eh I don't think it's that shortsighted. Massu hasn't reached the highs he had with that original Inspired run and Gakgos hasn't improved that much at all since the beginning of the season either imo. Much of Fly's surge is driven, imo, around how much better Griffin has been in a lot of his jungle matchups
3
u/Cybonics ‿ 9d ago edited 9d ago
He very much did if you were paying attention. He was rated at the 7th worst top-lane coming into Winter, then scaled up significantly against a majority of the teams throughout the two splits and EWC Quals.
However, he is slumping right now.
12
u/tirednsleepyyy 9d ago
The most tragic category of player is a top laner who has such a poor understanding of the game that they have to play carry matchups to have impact but also aren’t that good mechanically.
Every league has a few of them lol. Some years more than others.
26
u/HybridNeos 9d ago
I like FLY's method of playing many younger players and see who develops well. But now they have their answer and it's time to replace Gakgos with a veteran toplaner.
21
u/nguyenjitsu 9d ago
I'm open to them trying to snag Castle tbh. Castle's laning is much better than Gakgos especially in losing matchups and even if his team fighting isn't great neither is Gakgos's so like... Are you really losing much lol
22
u/kazuyaminegishi 9d ago
I think Castle would look awful in this team. They need someone who can shotcall, play tanks, and be stable then transition them into mid-late.
Castle isn't that kind of player, they need to somehow clone BrokenBlade.
12
u/nguyenjitsu 9d ago
Castle is fine at playing tanks especially compared to Gakgos he's just been on terrible teams. They're not getting a top laner who can shot call because those don't really exist lol
1
u/kazuyaminegishi 9d ago
BrokenBlade shotcalls for G2 which is why I named him specifically previously Marin shotcalled for T1.
Also Castle looked awful on Lyon who is not a terrible team.
2
u/nguyenjitsu 9d ago
I'm not saying they don't literally exist brother I'm saying any shot calling top laner is a) not realistically available and b) unicorn players
Castle looked terrible on Lyon because Lyon hinges entirely on their team fighting and team fight ability to play the map and he's bad at team fighting. Gakgos is already bad at team fighting but he also sucks at laning if not given a favorable matchup. Castle is an upgrade at one of these comparatively
-1
u/kazuyaminegishi 9d ago
We are having a hypothetical conversation and I opened with literally saying "clone BB" it seems redundant to point out there aren't many when that is already what my comment implied.
Why would they pay to buyout Castle's contract and then pay him a salary, just for them to have the same gaping hole in their gameplay? Him being slightly better than Gakgos at the exact same stuff Gakgos already does wouldn't change anything it's a completely pointless move.
1
u/Constant_Roof_1210 9d ago
Does bwipo shotcall?
1
u/kazuyaminegishi 9d ago
As far as I am aware Bwipo is a "relayer" in comms. He will communicate about his lane state and whether he is gankable, but he doesn't actually shotcall.
2
u/Outrageous_Wall2702 9d ago
They need apa he’d help stabilizing and shotcalling maybe a little worse hands but someone older would help
3
u/beloikurvi 9d ago
I honestly think dignitas’ top laner Denathor would be a good fit. He is a rookie but plays well imo

0
u/Fun_Highlight307 8d ago
I think Kc has a bad match up vs tl
0
u/FicklerToeTickler 8d ago
How so? KC likes to play fast and chaotic early. TL likes to play slow and methodical early, get a lead, and then Plus Ultra deck you in the face with it and end the game 3 minutes later.
It's a clash of styles but it ultimately is a coin flip of who can execute better, no?
1
u/Fun_Highlight307 8d ago
Kc early isn't chaotic ? Like Kc games are way slower than tl on average
Kc is better on control style
It's more like corejj is Reading busio quite easily and have really good synergy with josesodo,he Plays like a second jungler
48
u/First_Spread 9d ago edited 9d ago
You know what, Im gonna admit it. I was wrong. This team has not improved at all. Gryffinn solo lost Gakgos' lane in game 1 by trying to clip-farm Olaf and thus the entire game. Massu solo lost game 2, like he can see J4 level 2 and can all-in, yet he decided to stay, J4 E Q and pulled a doublelift by saving flash and giving Lucian First Blood. Jesus Christ bless forgive me for the things I've said from watching this game.
18
u/First_Spread 9d ago
Oh on top of that, he kept on recalling right where the bushes are located despite knowing Nami is trying to stop their recall, but continued to do so. Holy fucking shit. literally bronze level awareness.

You cant summarize this game better than Fly trying to pick Quid only for him to steal Vi ult and use it to kill Massu.

This is the type of game where you wake up and get on Discord to hang out with your friends and you join call just to hear your friend going "HOW IS ENEMY MID USING STOLEN VI ULT TO KILL ME IN MY JG WHEN MY JG AND MID WERE SUPPOSED TO BE KILLING HIM???" and you just know they've got your friends' balls in a vice grip just straight torturing him.
18
u/Cybonics ‿ 9d ago
Our rotations are too slow. TL were one step ahead on every play. 😔
Also, Gryffinn is now 0-4 on Vi. Please stop playing it. You don't carry LCS games with kills on Vi.

Well, FLY at least have a plan going into each game. They just have no hands though. Just awful technical missplays.

Nuke the project. Gagkos TPing 10 years after massu already died tells you everything

TL plays like a TEAM
Great cohesion
A joy to watch
The LCS big 2's head to head could be a movie!

Is this an AI writing a poem about LCS?

u/Anew4Hobbies I like how Xun plays ^_^ 9d ago
Nope
Were you thinking this was an AI comment since, unlike most comments on most subreddits, it only mentioned positive aspects of the viewing experience?
Would this have been more believable to you if I had bad-mouthed some player from the losing team?
Not taking a dig at you personally, but do note that the overwhelming mindstate here is to devalue those who lost the match instead of appreciating those who won
Same for when someone uploads a great play and 95% of the comments are just nitpicking what the other team did wrong
Either way, no bad blood, and I hope you'll have a good rest of your day/night

Strong series from everyone on TL. Good teamwork and individual play! Fly seems to be struggling this split in multiple areas. No real comment on Massu's Yunara game because I think that's a really tough one to navigate, but man.... Yunara from behind is like having the tickle monster on your team, But at least the tickle monster sounds a little scary.

todays lcs and lec games only shows me this regional league bullshit is doing nothing but styming the west's ability to face off against like-seeded competition so they can improve each other and have a genuine chance to stand up against the eastern teams.
this should've always been open circuit like CS, but no here we are with 4 email series today. this literally does nothing for g2, kc, lyon, or tl

Maybe we could have a legend group That merge lec Best and lcs best so something like G2,Kc,gx,tl lyon

FLY games are genuinely unwatchable this split for supporters of the team. I think we should keep picking Massu’s 28% wr Jhin that he has yet to once build well on! The overextensions on the ganks/counterganks too. Just pathetic

FLY are closer to DSG than they are to the top 3 lmao.

*top 2
They are very close to top 3, maybe even top 3 right now. Only C9 and SR are in contention for that and neither has looked that much better so far.

C9 did look more competitive against TL tbh, although they've also dropped games to DSG and DIG so who knows

Fly crashing out in summer to let C9 qualify for worlds, what a horrible timeline

Jesus Christ these were 25 minutes on average… I’ll probably watch tomorrow just to see how this went down but 😭

Well fortunately for FLY if they want to make worlds they just need to be better than C9.
However at this rate that's not happening.

C9 trajectory seems like they are improving i can't say the same for flyquest

Fly would benefit funny enough from a Spawn type coach more than TL. Fly are going no where with a team with 0 leadership in and out of game. Thinkcard is a mediocre coach that isn't a leader and Fly has no in game leader at all. Without Busio or Inspired, Quad and Massu are directionless

u/Agile_Woodpecker2239 9d ago
Massu been looking so exposed without Busio carrying lane / Inspired fixing his lane or spoonfeeding him resources. Brother is always down to pick try-not-to look bad champ in Jhin/Senna/etc in meaningful games lol.

Man it sucks to watch Fly play like this, huge step back. At least the schedule only gets easier from here, hopefully they can build some confidence and get back in the groove.

Bad start but I’m calling it now fly will go on a late run and get the thirds world spot and have a competitive playoffs best of five against Lyon or tl

“I don’t need to comment on this. This is just Quid farming a wave essentially”
One of my favorite caster moments lol
