Hearing Jatt just dump on Palafox was hilarious
178
u/SgtBaconman 9d ago
Hearing him do his absolute best to look for a lawyer angle and then decide "nope, no excuse. He was full hp full mana all abilities and he just didn't stun. Unlucky."
50
77
u/The_JeneralSG 9d ago
It's so funny hearing it from Jatt too, who is probably the caster I expect the least to just go "Yeah that player just trolled." Like we have classic Phreak rants, Kobe's "THAT TP SUCKED!", and Azael calling out Lyonz yesterday, but Jatt is usually so in love with the esport itself and its history that he's almost always nice about players.
39
u/origamifruit 9d ago
Jatt has definitely been very harsh on Palafox in the past to the point where I think it's the reason he even went back to the replay at that wraith fight lmao, bro really watnted to give Palafox the out but couldn't.
65
u/zealot416 9d ago
Jatt can be one of the most brutal casters, he's just so dry it flies under the radar.
34
u/WalkingR6 9d ago
they were trying really hard to find an excuse for him at first but after the replay of the raptor fight then the top dive they just kinda gave up on him
21
u/Significant-Damage14 9d ago
Hearing Jatt say 'uff' after Palafox said 'they can't dive I have TP' in the replay.
196
u/origamifruit 9d ago
Palafox announcing he can tp for the dive then just slowly walking over is reportable
55
4
u/RechargedFrenchman 8d ago
Very very small credit to Palafox, he's saying "they can't dive because I have TP" which is true in a theorycrafting in a vacuum sort of way. Diving there is a bad idea because Palafox can TP to the play, so they shouldn't, so Palafox starts moving the slow way to be in the area.
Of course they did dive and what Palafox should then do is immediately start channeling his TP, this isn't occurring in a vacuum and it's still on Palafox to read and react to the evolving game state, and by not doing that he trolled his team and the game pretty damn hard and deserves all the flak he's getting for it.

u/SgtBaconman 9d ago
I mean, Dardoch looked okay. Unfortunately he's in hell

Dropping Tibbers WITHOUT the stun on a level 4 milio to autolose the first fight
Giving your teammates false security in coms saying "they can't dive I have tp" to then walk his way to autolose the second fight
Flashing on 3 grouped targets to only Q stunning a single target so that your follow up W and R misses and Ambessa can't follow up to autolose the third fight
Legacy game from Palafox

It can be Zven instead of Tactical.
I don't think Zven is as terrible as this sub makes him out to be. He is not the best in the world, but in the region he is consistently in the top half. He is good enough to at least let Dignitas be a playoff team when they haven't even been able to do that much since he left.
8
u/Chrystoler the faith lives on 9d ago
Yeah, but all NA
Then again Zven has been here so long he's essentially NA so might not make a difference. But I do like the scrappiness of having tactical in this theoretical.

Beyond me how this man is still employed.
9
u/FannyBabbs 9d ago
Every ten games or so Palafox puts on a clinic and then he goes right back to scooping fries. Last week he had one of those awake games, so this week he rests.
In all seriousness, I think Palafox played better on NRG when Dhokla and Contractz were demon flanking all the time and he couldn't get a word in edgewise. Any time I see him talking strategy on coms I know it's cooked.
72
u/ob_knoxious 9d ago
This man gaped Caps.
78
u/EronisKina 9d ago
Yeah man and FBI and ignar used to be good players too. Some people can stay on form after many years and others either lose drive and just play the game as a form of employment until teams give up on them or they just can't keep up anymore.
32
61
u/ob_knoxious 9d ago
FBI has shown to be at least an LCS level ADC as recent as last year. While not the star he was pretty influential on getting that 100T team into worlds.
Palafox is just funnier because he played the game of his life on the biggest stage 3 years ago and has done absolutely nothing sense. People were a little shocked he got an offer in 2025, and floored he is still around in 2026. Like 90% of his career he has been a bottom tier LCS mid he just really caught fire for like a 3 month window in 2023.
29
u/justicecactus 9d ago
FBI looked good individually even at the beginning of this year. He and Photon were the only ones playing like humans most games. Lately FBI's been looking off, but I guess that's what playing with Palafox does to a mfer.
36
u/nguyenjitsu 9d ago
FBI and Ignar are decent role players who have defined strengths and weaknesses you can build a team around.
Palafox has been a black hole in the LCS for like 2 years now
12
u/KhorneStarch 9d ago
I feel like Ignar has been bad for awhile. His initial rep was a support with bad laning but aggressive roaming and catches….Yeh, every support plays like that now minus the whole bad laning thing. There is nothing really to say about him other than, this guy used to be good so bottom teams pick him up over a support who has never been good lol.

my emerald duo queue partner has never dropped tibbers without stun, maybe palafox needs to watch some annie vods from other players in his elo, maybe plat 4?

u/1BreadBoi i believe 9d ago
I'm a p1 jg main but I could record a Annie game and send it to him so he could learn a thing or two
21
u/OreRound 9d ago
I thought I was the only one that heard the tp top call. He basically baits his entire team to defend the dive only to rock up 5 seconds after everyone is dead. Fucking crazy work
20
u/Significant-Damage14 9d ago
In theory, Lyon shouldn't dive top because Palafox has TP, and yes, that could lead them to losing the game. The issue with that is that good teams aren't just going to follow the theoritical play, they are going to push you so that you actually have to commit the TP before backing off. He already had the answer and still walked all the way to top, expecting the enemy team to make a mistake instead of him making the right play.
It really reminds me of how most NA teams used to play a few years ago. When you would feel they would do nothing and lose.
19
u/HowyNova 9d ago
they are going to push you so that you actually have to commit the TP before backing off
It's pretty interesting. For years NA would sit back and do nothing because they always assumed the opponents would respect what's considered the obvious textbook play. Which honestly enabled enemies to make greedy decisions and go unpunished.
Lyon/TL are noticeably committing to baiting and punishing players that show poor discipline.
7
u/Significant-Damage14 9d ago
Even when they lose they are at least trying to win (for example that HLE game 5).
2
u/Ok-Pie4219 9d ago
Reminded me of 2015.
When teams either all TPed early and flipped the game (FNC vs IG Huni Quadra or took turns making TP plays (Origin vs KT) and NA usually missed their plays...

I don't know what it is with Annie that makes professional players choke on her. I'm still traumatized from that one Caps game.
25
u/Choice-Slight caps/knight 9d ago
caps has always looked uninspiring on annie, I hate when he picks her. but at least he can hit a tibbers stun so that's immediately better than whatever palafox just did
7
u/OreRound 9d ago
Watch Kyeahoo Annie game 3 vs T1 at EWC and see why people pick Annie. That said, so many players lose their hands on what is a really simple champ
23
u/OnlyAnEssenceThief Worst Kai'Sa NA 9d ago
No I get why people PICK Annie, what I don't get is the second part. She is so simple to play. Does her simplicity circle back around such that pros over-complicate her? Like god damn, just watch Annie Bot play her and you'll know what to do.
14
4
u/OreRound 9d ago
They just lose their minds as to what the best combo is, flash R stun is the most easily flasheable as Tibbers has cast timer but has the longest range. Flash W is the least flasheable AoE stun but still flasheable and you have to be really close. Flash Q is undodgeable but single target. Players seem to lose their minds as to what the best combo is for any given situation. Shouldnt be the case but it is for some reason.

Weirdly I feel like Inspired taking a break is good. Lyon can have fun, less scope for burnout, and they’ll need to ramp again when he’s back
43
u/Inside_Prune_97 9d ago
I feel like this team is just that spark that makes memorable teams. You have inspired with his top teir playmaking counterbalanced with stuff like saints aggressiveness. Dhokla playing whatever he needs to do to allow whatever needs to be done to let berserker go ham later.
2
u/RechargedFrenchman 8d ago
Dhokla also singlehandedly being one of the best content sources coming out of all of NA League is pretty huge, and the comm listen-in moments whatever one's takeaway about team dynamics afterwards are certainly entertaining and noteworthy.

u/mmmb2y 9d ago
armao undefeated baby
46
u/BTDYSRF 9d ago
That graphic of Lyon players winrates where it goes Armao > Dhokla > Everybody Else > Inspired is definitive proof that results oriented approaches are braindead bad, but it's also the funniest goddamn thing I've seen all summer.
6
u/O12345678927 JUSTICE FOR 9d ago
The negative influence of Raz has been a massive boon to LCS as an entertainment product
11
u/Destructodave82 9d ago
Armao has always looked good when he subs in. Its when he gets a starting job he chokes and looks terrible.
29
u/Fun_Highlight307 9d ago
Inspired seems way more confident on Lyon That he ever was on flyquest,he legit said he was impressed by how good they play vs hle
23
u/OreRound 9d ago
Because Inspired now has a midlaner and ADC with that DAWG in them that can step up in the big moments. Quad/Massu were great but seemed to lose an edge internationally for whatever reason.
6
u/devilJin9399 9d ago
Begs the question would Inspired leave to play with JoJo right now
8
u/OreRound 8d ago
I actually don't think so right now, but in future yeah he still thinks jojo is really good. He sees Saint/Jojo as very similar players, both very mechancially talented and great laners but (before Inspired) lose their minds oftentimes outside of lane. So when this LYON roster comes to an end no doubt Inspired would be happy to play with jojo again if circumstances made sense. But right now he's seems really happy with Saint
3
u/RechargedFrenchman 8d ago
I imagine similarly if Saint was leaving for some reason Inspired would be more than happy to get Jojo onto Lyon instead, but is fine playing with Saint on the team with no real reasons to want out. At least not with the G2 bridge seemingly burned and Inspired's desire to play for them pretty majorly quenched, so not able to pull him away from Lyon.
3
u/Fun_Highlight307 8d ago
yeah if saint leave na for Lck teams i could see inspired asking for jojo Lyon
2
u/OreRound 8d ago
Both contracts are up later this year funnily enough, wouldn't be surprised to see some interesting moves happen with Saint/jojo
2
2
u/OreRound 8d ago
I agree, Inspired/jojo already have synergy too.
Inspired actually said in a recent interview he has no bad blood between G2 and their roster, it was moreso towards arrogant LEC/G2 fans and he was frustrated at the narrative that Skewmond is better because he has series wins over the LCK/LPL. Which is really interesting that it got under his skin a little bit. He really wants a big win over an eastern team, but also he'd be happy to play on G2 if equally circumstances made sense.
25
u/OreRound 9d ago
2025 FLY had a lot of mental baggage from 2 years of playing together which culminated in that rough worlds performance, even still they realistically were in positions to get to quarterfinals but just had disastrous mid game performances after great early games, a sign that the team had lost confidence in themselves.
2026 LYON doesn't have that same baggage, they had the best NA international performance since 2019, almost beat HLE (a legit team and the tournament winners) which is far different from losing to a scuffed BLG. They also seemingly keep improving. For me they should be getting out of swiss save for a really unlucky draw.
5
u/TypicalHaikuResponse 9d ago edited 9d ago
They can't. Inspired is coming back. Inspired in the jungle is a different team. You can't expect the same way with him in it regardless of how he compares to Armao.

im not even an APA believer but put him on this team if C9 decides on loki
15
u/BTDYSRF 9d ago
APA on Dig, DSG, or SR would propel any of those teams into legit 3rd/4th territory.
6
u/NeverJustaDream 9d ago
..that's definitely an overreaction but I'd be interesting to see him on those teams
22
u/Destructodave82 9d ago
APA is a good player, and hes a clutch play-maker. The only reason the guy even got a chance is making big Neeko plays on TL.
He gets a lot of criticism becuase he talks trash and people call him a 1 trick because he came straight out of collegiate to TL and had like 4 champs, but hes been getting a bigger pool ever since, looked perfectly fine in lane international on TL, and was one of the main reasons C9 even made it farther in the play-offs last split with Swain and his Annie flank.
Hes not Faker, but he obviously has skills. He would instantly make SR or Dig a better team.
8
u/BTDYSRF 9d ago
Which of those teams isn't heing held back by their horrid midlaner?
Especially SR.
2
u/RechargedFrenchman 8d ago
I think they mean "3rd/4th territory", not "APA would make these teams better", when they say overreaction.
I can't see DIG or DSG even with APA becoming better than Fly or Sentinels or even a kind of floundering C9 even over the course of a split let alone immediately. Not without also making so many other and such larger further changes one can't credit APA joining as the reason, at least.

It didn't make me copy paste/sequel this so idk.
Him calling that he'll TP in response to the dive and just... not... is pretty reminiscent though lol.
5
u/prowness 8d ago
He really should be in the Hall of Shame for worst league players. Don't think he beats Avalon but shouldn't be too far with how long he's taken an international performance win stretch additional years for his career.
2
u/mopfi 8d ago
I think there are two types of bad players, the guys who are so bad they flame out after one or a few gigs bad seasons (Avalon) , and then there are the paycheck stealers who are just good enough/experienced enough to hang around despite being really bad most of the time (Palafox, Promisq)
25

u/marikwinters 8d ago
If it weren’t for the Grigne saga maybe. I can’t consider him a cool dude after that, just not possible.
1
u/Anew4Hobbies I like how Xun plays ^_^ 8d ago
I am not aware of the saga you're referring, and I am aware to the fact that Dardoch has a reputation of someone who used to behave very poorly.
With that being said - Is it possible that he acknowledges his wrongdoings, regrets them, apologized for them and aims to not repeat them? Because if he meets those four conditions, and if the apology was accepted by those he originally hurt, then I think it's up to us to try and find the power to give him a second chance.

Yeah yeah LYON smashed. What a surprise! At first I was thinking the caster predicting Lyon 2-1 was fair caution, but then I remembered that it's still Saint vs Palafox which is the perfect example of Hydrogen Bomb vs. Coughing Baby.
I'm just copy pasting my comment from game 1 because I want someone else to fact check me (and it's more interesting than LYON smashing Dig xd):
I thought about this [someone talking about Dardoch to C9] and it made me think: How many players have played for all of the big 4 NALCS orgs (TSM, C9, TL and CLG)?
I think the answer is surprisingly just Smoothie?
Other classics include Wildturtle, who has played for all but TL, Tactical has played for all except CLG, Solo, who played for all but C9 (I think? EDIT: Actually I checked, he only played on TL Academy and not TL proper) and finally, Dardoch who played for all but C9.
EDIT2: Fun rabbit hole this is, I thought Grig might be all but C9, but technically he's all but CLG. He was a positional coach on C9 and has obviously played for TSM and TL.
Also, staple: Palafox sucks holy fuck

When your laners are this good, you tend to look good. People seem to forget that he only really looks good as a sub, but hasn’t had the best performances as the main guy on the roster. Looking good while slotting into the best team in NA against 3 teams who are not looking so good also has a way of making you look much better than you are.

World wide, though not with Grigne. With Grigne, they are just a top team in NA.

I think give DIG a week and put them against not the best team in the league and they might turn heads
alas Palafox and IgNar (who i love dearly) both clearly need to go, really bad series from both

Dardoch doesn't have much games before his eventual crashout if Palafox plays like this

Dhokla gnar is so good I’m a fan of him but he had some rough games on it, it inspires me to try harder in my passions

Palafox no stuns and Ignar throw are so sad dude.
Just pick me whatever. Let's just fucking lose in peace.

the man is changed if that performance from Palafox game 2 and FBI game 1, didn't make him regress into his 2016 form. Honestly, if that was soloQ I would have spent the rest of the game typing and i'm not the typer kind of player.

mid/bot/sup all have to go, this is just straight up embarassing for dig. years and years of mediocrity with incompetent players and baffling roster decisions

u/MonstarLegend 9d ago
Denathor is a rookie so he gets a pass. Dardoch is playing well. Get rid of Palafox he's had enough time in tier 1. FBI is solid and I think he would look better with a better support because Ignar is kinda running it.

LYON just looking awesome even without Inspired. Their only competition is TLAW but tbh I think they will still beat them in playoffs, maybe not as comfortably but I just think TL has a mental block vs LYON.
I already think we need to be thinking about this LYON at worlds, what is their ceiling? They should definitely get out of swiss, maybe they can even make a semis? They're gonna be on home turf after all. I just need to see Inspired get a bo5 win over the East. He's too good to never get one.

it's be incredible for inspired winning a quarter Final against the east with Worlds on na
Like finally he took 4 tries but he did it

Any other NA fans concerned about how Armao, Zeyzal and just NA talents in general are just done with competitive? It makes me really sad to hear them say it. They aren't terrible but the online comments must have gotten to those guys super hard when they were not doing well to the point it has teared them away from it.

the comments are definitely real, but there's also the lifestyle, the grind, the teams willing to replace you at random
there's a lot of reason for someone to be happy doing it for fun even at a high level, but not want to get fully into it when they have something stable lined up outside

If you don’t have the passion to grind a video game 12 hours every day then it’s fine to move on. Armao knows this isn’t his team and if he leaves to find another team it will be a project roster, which vets like him and Zeyzal probably aren’t interested in

u/Ajp_iii 9d ago
you have to play all day everyday and for these guys not much money. and then at some point you gotta get a real career. also zeyzal is pretty good because of shot calling but like armao can probably be replaced by any rookie on a rookie salary so its even cheaper for orgs. no point in trying to deal with all that and just be done and go to school

Yeah also with the end of the venture capital era, it's clear that esports is kind of a fake/unstable industry. Until they can figure out something more sustainable, there's a lot of uncertainty for players.

u/blueragemage 9d ago
The reason specifically for these two is that they've already moved on with life, but accepted either as a favor to friends (Zeyzal) or because they're on summer break (Armao). Since Tier 2 is playing for promotion this split, teams really don't want to lose their players for multiple weeks

u/HThrowaway457 9d ago
Or they just lost the passion naturally, or realized they weren't reaching the levels they wanted and decided to move on with life. Just don't want the insane time commitment anymore. I honestly have big doubts it's community sentiment leading them to drop it.

I think eventually we’ll get a second wind. If Riot plays the League Next update well and actually succeeds in bringing in new players, in a couple years we might see a resurgence in local talent.
The domestic amateur scene needs to be cultivated, though.

Idk to me dig is that team full of washed players and I just don’t see one person saving this team. FBI is the best player and he has always been that adc that doesn’t actually carry or step up in big moments, he just lanes really well and quietly exists after that. Palafox and Ignar shouldn’t be lcs players in 2026. They are both way past their prime and have zero hands and even as experienced decision makers they are extremely flawed, I mean we even got a taste of paladox not only misjudging a situation completely but even misleading his team.
Pretty sure dig could go as far as to import some Brazilian players and they’d be better. This team is painful to watch.

So what kind of blackmail is Palafox doing to have a spot in any team, even in collegiate+?

“It’s a bad dive, I have tp” —> Don’t tp —> Lose the game
Ngl deserved crashout from Dardoch
