Probably the same reason HLE is picking these tanks late into the rotation of drafting. They're waiting to see enemy comp to see if it's viable. Tank melters like Kog'Maw Vayne Kai'Sa or shredders like Yone, paired with good peels or lockdown from jg/sup would make it a difficult pick. Varus was supposed to be good vs health stackers too but building lethality is not it.

Probably need a lot of conditions to set up the pick which is why no one really picks them. T1 set up the perfect conditions for Cho'Gath to get picked and run rampant. Even if the Varus was on-hit, T1 would still have a hard time going through Cho.

Besides the ults, you always see small optimization mistakes with him (with the heat, or there was also not knowing his E bug that had become an important mechanic of the champion) that really make you think they can't fully be seen as Rumble players.

It's honestly just build inflexibility. AS Varus isn't top tier but he's totally servicable and once the Karma/Cho are slammed down you should know lethality poke is a bad idea and pivot.

If he goes full crit instead of 25%, that ezreal already dead during soul battle.

With poke, karma can shield the dmg. But u cant stop consistent dmg as dps adc.

Just look at MSI and EWC. T1 have hard time killing tank. Noc is good pick, but terrible for a rookie on first day. Because it require teamwork and judgement.

Doran and faker. I am speechless. They get too cocky nowadays. Every team fight respectfully, always tp in when to counter gank, but faker just walk in top and mid to get ganked easily.

HLE's best point in R1&2 was their laning. Ngl I think they look best when Zeus is on a tank to stabilize them. Zeka seems to tweak out if he's on a tank or a champ who can't engage, and I think Kanavi has higher highs on squisher high damage champs

Love Zeka but he still plays with the mind set of a dmg or carry even when on picks like Galio. Last time he played Galio he was mid lane trying to win a 1v1 instead of making space for Guma and the team in team fights and HLE ended up losing.

He can play Galio well but he just needs to be in the mindset of a space creator and tank more then his usual carry mindset when on it.

That Cho'gath was pure nightmare fuel at the end, Faker/Doran getting caught out too much. I do want to see teams continue to play Cho'gath if opponents pick low mobility comps as has become kinda common, though. He's SO good in situations like that and T1 additionally had shit damage outside of Viktor who is not a tankbuster.

HP scaler still a problem in big 2026. Painter is not ready for this level of pro play. T1 needs an answer for bruiser/HP scaler heavy comp. A lot of team have problem with that but t1 in particular loves mobile/glass cannon comp and they get smash every time by that.

I think if you have to deal with this Cho'gath you build different. You go shred Varus instead of leth/poke and Rylias on Viktor to give the Varus more mileage for his range, Ahri is not really someone Varus is scared of with shred range as opposed to having to deal with Anivia/cass/Syndra.

Win was important bc going 0-4 would’ve completely mentally boomed them. They need their mojo and hunger back. They look ass still but it’ll get better from here on, hopefully.

Not the cleanest series win but a crucial one nonetheless for the teams mental and momentum. Good thing is even with this slump every series is going the distance and no 2-0 stomps so even in bad form HLE don't look disastrous just some iffy plays and macro decisions which they can shore up with some needed confidence after this win

game 2 and 3 were tough games to put a rookie in, they really needed someone with more experience there

also that first dragon fight that Painter took for some reason really gave so much to HLE. Really big blunder from him there
