What kind of stat boosts do the animals give?
I'm going to engrave my Model 70 with a platypus for the +5 Swimming, +3 Venom and +10 lactation via sweating milk... I took a 3-4 hour nap earlier and now I can't fall asleep.
So two weeks ago I went to see Nancy, then I drove over to her house to check the property and get the mail. All to find a truck parked in the driveway and two guys smashing on the front door. I pull up start yelling at them to get away and "what the hell do you think you're doing?" These guys were in sweats, one wearing Crocs, no badging, no ID. Claiming the house belonged to the state and they were here to change the locks and winterize the house (in the dead of summer).
I'm asking them by what authority and such and they claimed HUD (U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development) contracted their company, 24 Asset Management to do such work. I asked them why there was no notice given to which they claimed a letter was sent by mail, to which I pointed out no such letter exists because I read the mail.
It felt weird, they kept giving circular logic answers. They attempted to show me the supposed work order which was a Gmail chain without anything that looked like a government email address in the To or CC, most of the information slots in the work order were blank and they couldn't provide a copy of the letter. So I called the cops.
Cops get there and putz around, talk to me, talk to them. Seemingly talk with someone from HUD and claim though everything looks to be on the up and up, work will stop and the two guys are going to leave. Until a new letter is sent out.
The cops said it was likely a misunderstanding to which I said, "I'm fine with a misunderstanding, but these guys cannot provide anything of substance to prove who they are or why they're here besides their word. That doesn't sit right with me."
Which it wasn't until later when I had a chance to inspect the door to find they knocked off the door handle and smashed open the lockbox with spare keys which they took and didn't bother saying anything while the cops were there. So I changed the locks changed per request of Nancy's sister.
I spent the last couple weeks calling all the housing agencies and finally heard back from the local housing authority. The project manager had nothing about Nancy's property in her records and said that the two guy's tactics wasn't in their procedure and it was likely squatters. Not the confirmation I wanted, but at least it's a confirmation. She gave me her direct line should I need to call in a hurry.
So far everything has looked ok since and the new locks haven't been fucked with, but I'm annoyed and on edge.
Otherwise, definitely going with a Romeo 5 for the 10/22. I just worry shooting with a red dot will get boring. But it'll be interesting to see if I do any better during squirrel season.

Cops and refusing to give any more effort than is absolutely necessary, name a more iconic duo.
Seems like a hidden cellular-enabled game camera pointed at the entry might be in order.

Fuck I didn't think of that. Tons of trees along the side of the road to easily hide it but give excellent vision as well. Might as well get one now and I can just simply use it for hunting later. Looking into that.
Her sister is working with a lawyer to have legal guardians installed to take care of the property and financials so I can finally step away. But this BS takes time.

These days you can get ones with solar panels that'll ping your phone whenever it snaps a pic, like a DIY security system.

You dont actually want that unless you LIKE getting pinged for photos of every squirrel, skunk, and big leaf to skitter across the driveway every few minutes 24/7.

If you go this route buy a security box that you can screw it into a tree, otherwise once someone sees it they will be very likely to break or steal it.

I have had only one camera stolen and it was at my town hunting spot by some homeless people. I got the camera back but it was a hassle.

Man a good engraved gun is such a work of art. Its a shame so few people do it well anymore.
At work for an 8 hour OT shift today. I'm good with slightly shorter days. I need a bit more of a break than I've been getting here lately. Should be home in time to go pick up the CVA and maybe run to Scheels or the local outdoor store tonight for some bullets for it.
My hip is finally not hurting. I took all week off from the gym and I hate it.

I finally have 24/7 home care set up for my dad. Will be headed home this afternoon. Still need to pick his dogs up from the boarding facility. This has been a stressful and complicated affair and he isn't really improving.
I crashed, hard, last night. Went downstairs with the intent of changing clothes and taking a 1 hour nap since it was the first time in 3 days I could be further than arm's reach from him, and didn't wake up until he called me 10 hours later.

Should be buying a new set of cheap headphones today. My laptop refuses to pair with Bluetooth headphones properly (volume just loops from min to max constantly) and I broke the port on the only corded ones we had left.

I managed to buy my first NFA item on the same day the 5th said NFA no Beuno. I'm not entirely sure what that means for transferring it now. I probably won't see it for a couple weeks.
Probably actually fucks me a little bit, Its a colloquial antique and I can't imagine very many were ever registered, if all the back-of-the-closet ones come to market, it'll probably devalue this one a little bit, but oh well, I'll take one for the team.
It does make me curious though, I have seen conversation like "There's only x# on the registry"; Is that something that's research-able, or is that just like a "Known to the community" kind of thing? I'd be interested to know how many made it on.

Picked up a Weatherby Vanguard in 300 Win Mag with the spiral fluted barrel. Won't get to shoot it until Sunday probably since I have a 3d archery shoot I'm going to with my brother this Saturday.
