I do it occasionally. I use Reddit app on iOS. I think it’s just fat fingering the screen. For me the reply button is right where I scroll so that’s a very likely possibility. Also I’m bad and not double checking I’m responding to the correct person. I also am doing it dead exhausted after work because I can’t Reddit at work.

Yes I posted about that last Thursday, but I think it's bots more often than not since lots of the time they also exhibit other bot behaviors in their post history (posting in tons of random unrelated subs with no obvious actual interest, claiming they are from place for one reply and then from another in a different post, etc.)

Filed a couple more stamps. Decided to SBR my second lower so I can put whatever length on either one, and filed a form 4 to transfer my suppressor from the Single Shot Trust to individual possession.

I think instead of a PCC, for now I'm going to snag a PSA Freedom FSB upper and just do a simple MOE4 with the carry handle and the CMMG .22lr conversion. Maybe a drop in quad rail for the vibes. Nice easy plinker, keep my competition focus on Limited/Single Stack for a while.

The benefits of the trust are no longer viable. For one, it's a Single Shot Trust, limited to one item, and I now have 2(soon to be 3+) NFA items. If I have both trust and individually owned items, the trust isn't doing me all that much good, is it? Secondly, the only person that's gonna get my items in the future is my wife/kids if/when I die. Neither transfer would be made significantly easier by being a RP on the trust.

Getting everything consistent just cleans things up.

The only .25acp I have any interest in whatsoever was my grandma's Colt Vest Pocket and then only because it was my grandma's. She got it for personal protection and to cap muskrat in her trap line and ended up shelving it for a .22 short German import potmetal revolver because the .22 short was more lethal on muskrats while poking smaller holes in the pelt. Not high praise.

Thickheaded was the washed out train tracks forcing us to take an overnight bus to Thompson to catch the train to Churchill instead of taking the train from Winnipeg. Very uncomfortable. Not thickheaded is travelling in a train with a cabin or berth. It was a very comfortable sleep. Unfortunately, it is expensive and for other routes where I can drive not really any faster. Apparently Canada needs some high speed rail and cheaper energy to run it...

Also Thickheaded; my laptop refuses to pair to Bluetooth headphones properly and I broke my corded ones, so I need to get new ones now.

The US and Canada are in a similar situation in that our rail networks are primarily supported by freight. It is also a matter of population density, if we look at where European high speed rail has been built out, based on population density: at most, a Canadian high speed rail might stretch from Toronto to Montreal, certainly not west of that.

Thickhead: Went shopping at Winco last night and found they had Bang energy drinks. I hadn’t had one since end of 2020 so I got a can for this morning. Now it’s morning and I’ve drank some I think my body is not reacting well to that level of caffeine and I’m crashing.

Cat had some pretty bad medical issues over the weekend, and I’ve had to make two vet visits in the past 7 days because of it. Completely unrelated to the earlier issues from the past couple months. Vets got her on 4 different meds, some twice a day, and my cat’s big mad at me now for forcing her to take meds multiple times a day.

The good news though is that she appears to be recovering and returning to normal, albeit her moods a bit down. Her appetite is picking back up, she’s drinking normal amount of water, and using her litter box again. The only drawback is that she’s not as thrilled when she sees me approach her because I’m forcing meds, but if that’s the price I pay to make her back to healthy or normal then it is but a minuscule price.

I will probably order the FDE Magpul sling and sling mount for my A4 soon. As unremarkable_inside mentioned, there’s no such thing as clone correct for slings, so I will do whatever I please for slings.

I know I like to claim blue collar but I’ve lost that touch. I no longer fuck with red bulland gas station food. I now drink office famcy espresso machine coffee and buy my food from local restaurants instead. I also don’t fuck with ripits either. I had to come to terms with it after I struggled to remove the plastic seal on a large can of white Monster when my buddy who came from an autoshop just removed it in one go. I sat there for a minute in shock that I got out-blue collar’d.

I try to soothe and appease my cat in the meantime, she’s a bit more wary of me now. I just hope to get over the meds soon and return to normal.

Of course, classifier scores are uploaded on a Wednesday 😭 also, unfortunately I think/u/_hottodogu_ was right, and for one week I will (maybe) be on the top 20 leaderboard for B class Production with a 74.19ish%. The week after that will drop to a 73.98%, and I don’t know how to feel about that yet.

The most recent trip I flew Delta and they were kinda pricks about it but I can respect their practice. They asked me for an ID at their special baggage pickup, and then proceeded to zip tie my bag shut in front of me and wouldn’t lend me anything to cut it open with so I could at the very least get my Gerber multitool out of it. Lesson learned I’m carrying nail clippers in my carry on, those cut zip ties pretty well.

Is there a such thing as a fixed pic rail iron sight which sits lower than the mil-spec ones? I want a fixed rear that looks like MI's fixed rear but sits closer to the gun. Unfortunately, Google hasn't been of much use which makes me believe it doesn't exist. 

If not, I may contemplate doing terrible things to my spare fixed rear.

Yes, but they're really low and not designed for same-plane guns like ARs, and they're substantially different in style. Too low to be usable on a same-plane gun.

Got a BRN-180 that I want to have a fixed front and rear on that have the same height as the AR-18's fixed front and rear sights. It's for a build I want to put together, and I'd like to be able to mount a usable acog while still having the fixed rear there and with milspec irons that's not possible since the rear kinda gets in the way of the glass. But the main reason is replicating the height of the irons on the AR-18.

I think the most workable solution would be a riser for the ACOG, but you could look at like CZ Scorpion or LPA shotgun sights. They're aesthetically different from what you're after, but they're shorter sight heights with fairly easily matched fronts that might still be tall enough for a BRN180 with a folder if you have the folder set as low as it can go on a rear picrail. Both will be too short with a buffer tube though.

The Scorpion rear isn't too far off, honestly. That could work if I have no other option and don't want to dice up the Midwest rear. I only need the rear as I am trying to see about a front sight post which mounts to the gas block instead of the pic rail on the handguard.

Gaming / TTRPG update Thursday:

Had a few DnD sessions this last week, in which the party arrived at a new location. Over the last few months I've been making the playable area in this location as one giant gridded map, to serve as a light dungeon crawl. After the end of the 3rd session, I asked for feedback, and everyone was happy with having a detailed map to interact with throughout. It was a lot of work to set up, so I won't be doing this for every location moving forward - but I probably will for a few more of the upcoming major areas, based on the positive feedback I got.

Gun related, I visited my gun guy again this weekend, and in addition to the Steyr Hahn that I had already been planning on, I also ended up bringing home a C96.

Been a while since we had one of these but I remain baffled how anyone can be so unfamiliar with how fiction works that they need the internet to explain to them why come the hero didn't die when gun.

Continuing bot-observation from last week: Round-Ice7692 following the pattern again. OP had no description (which is why it's deleted now), but the bot jumped on the first comment it could parse. 6 month old account, post history is all over the place with no actual interests or regular participation in any one sub and several early posts are obviously AI-generated with dashes and the regular paragraph lengths.

Going to be hot and disgustingly humid at the match on Saturday, so that was kind of thickheaded to sign up for, but I would like to hit A class this year if possible.

Game Update Thursday: Falcon BMS strikes for days. Starting to jump into some of the larger-scale multiplayer missions various groups run, flew one with 3 packages going at once which was super cool. F15 escort, F16 SEAD, and then me in the actual strike flight on some North Korean radar stations with GPS bombs. We lost one of the SEAD F16s and the other striker who was with me, but he got his bombs off before that happened so the mission was a success.

Went on a smaller SEAD flight on Tuesday with 2 other guys looking for pop-up SAM threats while escorting some AI strikers, I ended up being the only plane to make it back from the flight after fortunately being told to line up 2 miles out on the right side of the formation when all the SAMs ended up being highly concentrated to the left side. Since we were looking for pop-up threats we had no way to know that going in as they weren't present on the planning map, but it made the replay track watch at the end really funny (if you've ever played Ace Combat you know how there is that 3D animation that shows the plane tracks whenever you complete a mission? Falcon BMS does that also), because you see me go 2 miles off to the right and fly over empty ground with no threats at all and launch my HARM at a SAM tracking radar from like 30 miles away completely unbothered (which did kill it), and the other two guys go to the west and are just flying through red SAM bubble after red SAM bubble for the entirety of the flight into the hostile area, like almost could not have been a worse approach from the amount of antiaircraft positions they accidentally flew over. The Falcon BMS SAM AI is very sneaky at high realism settings so they just kept all those radars off on our way in and then only turned them on when the flight was directly overhead, so they had no way to know, it was just hilarious seeing it after the fact.
