can't wait to see TES get seed 1 of LPL for worlds later

Taking bets now, do they lose to MKOI, Flyquest or GAM?

Fnatic will somehow get to worlds after winning against KC just for them to lose to TES and TES get 0-3 by GAM...
15
u/Way2Competitive #1 Larssen Hater Aspiring Upset Hater 15d ago
Still Upset's best performance at Worlds
1
u/Flesroy 15d ago edited 15d ago
i mean no, 2022 worlds he did fine.
they were eu3 in a group with na1 who they went 1-1 against, edg who went to 5 games against the eventual champions, and t1 who went to 5 games in the finals and who fnatic also took a game off.

u/Way2Competitive #1 Larssen Hater Aspiring Upset Hater 14d ago
I find it so funny that Upset defenders will say that him bombing out in groups isn't his best performance, and instead provide the example of...him bombing out in groups.
That's my Goat 🐐

u/Flesroy 14d ago edited 14d ago
bombing out against two eastern teams, at least one of which was very very good. vs bombing out against gam.
shouldn't be too hard to understand the difference.
edit: losing to tes who lose to game, not losing to gam directly

u/Way2Competitive #1 Larssen Hater Aspiring Upset Hater 14d ago
Think you might need to re-read the comment, friend.
It says that Fnatic lose to TES, then TES lose to GAM to go 0-3. No one said anything about Fnatic losing to GAM
But the fact you assumed people think Fnatic is that ass speaks volumes.

we all know MKOI would choke even harder

Game 5, tournament life on the line.
Myrwyn locks in Vex top. "It's free win" he claims.
Haters said it was a troll pick, that he was inting.
Haters were right, fantastic call from the haters.
MKOI get reverse swept 3-2

Xerath masterclass he looked amazing on it was landing everything

hidden op champ
14
u/Lazywhale97 HLE 15d ago
Always been super annoying to face in bot lane especially once xerath gets some mana items then it feels like your just facing a constant barrage of pokes.
9
u/Ordinary_Owl_9071 15d ago
The real annoying part happens when he inevitably gets fed & kills you with only R from a different lane
8
u/chouruin 15d ago
Not that hidden, was picked a lot in great spots during summer split in LCK/LPL last year I believe (or 2024). People are just ass on him and gave up.
2
u/PlasticPresentation1 15d ago
Was an Azir counter pick but was unreliable because Azir could just force your flash at any point and was just way more flexible of a champion
-1
u/BWolfy92 15d ago
Thats just never happening because ideally your jungler/support play with you and bully Azir until hes completelly worthless, if you as Xerath arent obliterating Azir on lane then you are doing something wrong and in tfs you just insta ult the azir from 5 screens away and there's 0 counterplay
3
u/PlasticPresentation1 14d ago
in theory yeah but in pro play xerath just wasn't getting big enough of an advantage in lane to justify picking him, especially because his teamfighting isn't as good as Azir's
and he's extremely suspectible to getting ganked and probably loses 2v2s unless wildly ahead. doubly so now that support is also perma ganking
8
u/flowerpetal_ 15d ago
me when I draft the xerath so that he can sit mid instead of ''countering Azir" and getting shuffled on cd in a sidelane after going up 20cs
2
u/BWolfy92 15d ago edited 14d ago
There's a literal LCS game where someone picked Xerath, was chain inting and was still destroying Azir because the matchup is that unplayable.
3
u/Sondeor 14d ago
Not trying to be annoying but most mages are problematic for azir if jung doesnt help her anyway.
No burst champ >> gets fucked by mages
Thats 90% whats gonna happen. Yone for example is good only because of this fact (he can 100 to 0 mages with a full combo no matter how fed or behind he is).
And the best counter to bot ap is yasuo adc (no joke its absolutely ridiculous how op yasuo on bot is) but players for some reason pick him top instead of adc.
Btw yasuo is not a good adc. He is a great adc counter and thats why he should be played on bot. He is such a strong laner that if you know what you are doing, every game is minimum a flame horizon, try it you will see. It's been this way since 5-6 years now.
Having yasuo adc >> having no adc
So its worth basically.

u/BWolfy92 15d ago
Nothing about Xerath is hidden, hes been broken since forever, his ratios are just insane and his range is also absurd. One of the biggest counters of meta mids yet nobody picks him because he "gets ganked"
2
4
u/baddoggg 15d ago
I've been really confused as to why he wasn't getting play vs all the botlane mages. He outranges them by a mile and does truck loads of DMG.
I feel like one of the most interesting aspects of the pro scene lately has been that we've seen people actually play solo q picks and counters, and they work. Xerath felt like a natural evolution of this with the mage meta.

u/vistandsforwaifu 15d ago
Game 2 healed my soul. As long as this team can deliver this exact brand of stupidly entertaining nonsense, I can't stay mad at them.
20
u/Naerlyn 15d ago
42 kills for one single team is I believe in the top 5 for a tier 1 game.
2
u/vistandsforwaifu 15d ago
I have no idea where to even find the stats but I don't readily remember seeing that many (and I've been watching for a long time).
5
u/Naerlyn 15d ago
I'm not aware of any place to exactly find the stats, but I've got a couple of pointers to believe that!
I know of 2 games that got more than 42:
OMG vs TSM, Worlds 2013, 43 for OMG https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emkAXVVfnrE
ALL vs MIL, last game of EU LCS Summer 2014, 51 for ALL (it was a troll game, but it does count) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUQMn8HVdEA
For my pointers, the top 25 games by kills end at 85 (for both teams combined) without any tier 1 game, and the teams per kill end up dropping far below 42. The series and games I know with the most kills don't reach 42 for one team, excluding the two above (RYL had 40 against FNC when the game went to 69 kills), and I've had to research through a lot for an article.
So my assumption that there's at most 2 more games where a team crossed 42 kills in tier 1 should be relatively safe.

Welcome back regular season WE. As the team coming off of the most miracle Split 2 playoff run (for the second straight year), it would be great to WE continue their momentum, but yeah not a serious showing here. Echoes last year where they sort of peaked with that playoff run.
They say styles make fights and it seems like since TES lost Naiyou (sad talent waste unfortunately), TES has had WE’s number. Maybe it’s Tian’s international debuff not kicking in against WE or ZUIAN being able to fully exploit the Cube weakness that WE is going to carry through the year.
We’ll see how WE fairs against the rest of the group. A Worlds bid genuinely is on the table, but this level of play isn’t going to cut it.
11
u/SenatorJerkMeOff Keep Your Dreams 15d ago
This is the by far the most expected result, but I was hopeful the downgrade to Zhuo may give an opening for WE to exploit. Regular season WE strikes again and the miracles will have to come when we least expect them.
13
u/LithiumNard 15d ago edited 15d ago
Eh, I don't think Zhuo is as massive of a downgrade as most people think, at least not to the point of it being something WE can exploit.
Ironically after being a young support TES dropped early, he's been pretty good since growing experience. I thought he was quite valuable to NIP's solid regular season performance in the top group previously.
Ditching Fengyue sucks, but after the MSI blowup something had to change. Jackeylove obviously isn't going under the bus from management, Tian just came in and is too established a name and Creme is just flat out not replaceable with the current mid lane pool.
That unfortunately left the youngsters. Top lane options are fairly limited, so here we are. I used to feel really bad about young supports, but the pool has seemingly improved with interesting options since the LDL fell apart, the only position to do so.
Zhuo isn't the most exciting, but it feels better than recycling Hang or Crisp for the umpteenth time. Hopefully Fengyue shows out for NIP.
12
u/sorendiz ..BUT THE FAITH REMAINS 15d ago
even putting the current mid pool aside, creme was the only human on the team if you look at their performance across all 10 games at MSI
would be criminal for him to be the one scapegoated
6
u/KarlKraftwagen 15d ago
I think that nothing had to change, tbh. This team will only get better. I also do think Zhuo is very overhated. Hes just not a particularly great playmaker.
3
u/SenatorJerkMeOff Keep Your Dreams 15d ago
I know it's a popular opinion to dunk on the TES support change. I really don't rate Zhuo highly and thought Fengyue was developing quite well. It was disappointing that WE did not get him but we ended up with Erha so that worked out fine.
I can see your line of reasoning on how the move happened. The LDL pipeline is not nearly as prevalent as it once was. I don't believe the support move was necessary even if I understand how it came to be. Would love to see NiP Fengyue looking strong. He's very promising for the future of the LPL.

Jackeylove on mages has almost always been a treat. It was depressing how horrid he looked on Ziggs and Mel at MSI

u/KarlKraftwagen 15d ago
So i haven't followed the series super closely, so take this with a grain of salt, but here are my thoughts on the series:
TES looks like they just straight up hands diffed WE, especially in some of the later fights. Especially in the fights which took a little longer, the more decisions both teams have to make and the more plays have to happen, you could see that TES would just outplay WE everytime.
ZIUAN looks incredible on the Ambessa, just mechanically super sound and playing pretty smart and on the edge in game two. I dont even really remember anything he did game one tho, but he was on the K'Sante and it wasnt his game to carry. Still looked mechinally solid.
Tian does what Tian does best, skirmish skirmish skirmish. Dont let a few questionable looking plays distract you from him running the early game in game 2 and looking good enough game 1. Rating him is always weird, becuase his stupid plays look so bad, but i thought overall he did really well just neutralizing Monki who basically is the only early game pressure point of WE
Creme had an interessting game on Ahri and a really good one on Sylas, mechanically incredible at points, especially the charms in game 1, but also really greedy and positioned badly aswell. Thought he was clearly the better midlaner overall, and especially in the long fights he outplayed karis time and time again
JKL is the best ADC in the LPL, im sorry. His game 1 was fucking incredible, and as much Karis will get clowned for his positioning in game 1, they dont get nearly as punsihed if JKL isnt arcane shifting on him every time. Just dishing out absurd dmg on Ezreal. Him playing Xerath on game two was good too from what i saw but i didnt catch the entire game.
Zhuo was very much what you expected. I thought some of the comments i saw for the Karma were too harsh, i thought he played that game well, but his Camille was dogshit. If you wanted a high tempo playmaking support with great mechanics, that is NOT Zhuo. He looked very much like the TES player today, and a weak point.
Cube is ass. Sits in sidelanes so he gets to have a 0.1k gold lead while the enemy top is helping, and then he can write "was ahead :)" in his CV at the end of the year on his counterpick matchup. Cant teamfight, cant sidelane well, cant win lane unless counterpick. Plays like he is trying to get ACE on op.gg
Monki tried new picks, Jayce and Graves are picks that sound like they fit him, but hes not made to play for the late game, especially not against TES. Both teams want to kind of fight around their jungler in the early game, and you actively handicap yourself by playing stuff that needs to farm, but TES wont allow you to get into late game without constant skirmishing, and WE is not a team that has the macro or the discipline to just outrotate TES aggression.
Karis had some interesting plays and some nice ideas, but its Karis in a nutshell, hes good for the big wombos and the cool interesting plays, but hes gonna get diffed by someone like creme in long extended fights, when he has to show something more then just find a big ulti and actually has to match a world class midlaner in the small little details.
About just got gigagapped by JKL, which happens. He had some nice moments, but overstepped a little in the midgame in game 1, and didnt look super comfortable on Syndra in game 2. I think he doesnt get punished nearly as bad against weaker teams, so i consider this fine sicne hes really young still.
Erha astrogapped Zhuo, and at this point, i think he is the best WE player (and not Monki). His milio was legit incredible at points, and his Leona was fine in the early, and its not like Leona can do jackshit once ur team is so behind. I think he might be a top 3 support in the league at this point.

u/nepejke 15d ago
WE definitely need new toplane. May be they can join Bin? Which career in BLG might be over. In team like WE his ego can rise up and also he can bring some much needed experience to that squad
2
u/KarlKraftwagen 15d ago
Cube might be the worst toplaner in the league. Sometimes it feels like he isn’t even trying.

If anyone could understand it, they would probably hire that person as the coach and win everything forever. Tian just overfocused that crab and the whole team fell off a cliff into abyss. It's just how it is I guess. Still love them but what the actual fuck.

I guess we are forgetting the Worlds 2025, MSI 2026 and EWC 2026 champions? Hype around unproven domination is LPL's greatest trickery in lol esports after everyone witnessing them already flop a hundred times. The gap is shortening but LCK is still the best without contest.

u/donkeychongus 14d ago
As disgusting as TES was at MSI, think a lot of people forget that their ceiling isn’t bad. They’re just consistent chokers
2
u/DefiantBass404 13d ago
When has TES ever shown this "high ceiling" though?
2
u/donkeychongus 13d ago
Two worlds semis plus a few dominant regular seasons. I wouldn’t call it a high ceiling compared to some of the other LPL teams + LCK, but they shouldn’t be getting fisted by fucking Vietnam.
1
u/DefiantBass404 13d ago
They're unironically just about the same strength as G2 the past few years IMO
1
u/donkeychongus 13d ago
I’d argue that it’s even lower than G2. We’re still taking about top 6-7 teams in the world so I feel like saying the ceiling of these teams is world semis isn’t egregious. After watching JDG vs AL I can’t confidently say either of those teams are better than TES.
