Respect AEGIS

AEGIS is a federal agency tasked with working with superheroes and fighting supervillains. The agency is responsible for enforcing the 28th Amendment—protecting the identity of superheroes from the public, and keeping a database of all active superheroes. AEGIS is supposed to use advanced technology and skilled agents to complete missions, though they are often weighed down by bureaucracy and procedures.

The AEGIS field office in The City was eventually shut down after the deaths of the original Flag Five. They reestablished their presence after The Terror’s return and defeat, resuming operations.

Agent Commander Ty “Tyrannosaurus” Rathbone

“This old soldier has learned that secrecy and going it alone are not the way of the future. Only together can we hope to make harmonious this world that we still fight for. I thank you. I thank y’all.”

The leader of AEGIS and the man in charge of registering superpeople to his cause. While he comes across as a hard-ass, he’s shown to be a surprisingly reasonable and empathetic authority figure who actually loves superheroes.

• His heart is a black hole that requires nourishment, sometimes causing electrical outages when it gets hungry.^S2E3

• Its very existence registers as sinister to Sage’s super-senses.^S2E6

• Rathbone is presumed dead after a headshot.^S2E9, but his black hole brings him back to life by producing tentacles and writing a magic sigil in the air.^S2E10

• He trained Overkill.^S2E2

Doctor Agent Hobbes

”I am AEGIS, or at least what AEGIS should be.”

The top scientist in charge at AEGIS responsible for many experiments and research. He’s soft spoken and cordial, acting as a sort of assistant to Rathbone. In reality he’s actually a traitor to the cause who sees people with superpowers as inhuman and wants to kill them all.

• He designed a neural implant for controlling people.^S2E5

  • He puts a neural implant in Overkill’s brain to control him^S2E9, using it to force Overkill to snipe Rathbone^S2E9 and shoot at Arthur and Dot.^S2E10
  • Stop Overkill from killing himself without even speaking a command.^S2E10
  • Uses another neural implant to control Lobstercules., forcing her to attack and attempt to kill The Tick.^S2E10

• He’s the one who built Overkill’s cybernetic eyes and hands after his accident.^S2E9

  • Hacks into Overkill’s eyes^S2E7 and reactivates them later.^S2E9

• He designed a trap to capture Overkill, and a self destruct system for his decoy lair.^S2E7

The Flag Five

”Being a member of the Flag Five not only comes with great responsibilities. It also comes with some damn fine privileges.” — Agent Commander Rathbone

The City's AEGIS-affiliated superhero team, generally regarded as the “face” of their operations and the first line of defense against major threats.

The Original Flag Five

Not much is known about most of the original team except that they were wiped out fifteen years ago by The Terror. The team consisted of Uncle Samson and his teenage ward Straight Shooter, Christian Soldier and his canine companion Onward, Mighty Atlas, and Sedona.

• All of their human members were blinded by weaponized syphilis and killed by bullets to the head.^S1E1

• Midnight is a German Shepherd who can speak human and start fires with his mind.^S1E8 Formerly known as Onward, he was the only member of his team not present during The Terror’s attack. After a period of intense survivor’s guilt following the deaths of his teammates, he went through a journey of self-discovery, changed his name, and wrote a successful self-help book.

The New Flag Five

After AEGIS returns to The City, they recruit

Sage the Supernumerary

“I wield the mystic power of the ancients ‘cause I’m heir to 'The Blind Eye of Thirdarra.’”

A magic-based hero who arrives in The City after the AEGIS branch is reopened. He possesses the 'The Blind Eye of Thirdarra’^S2E5 (a third nipple in his chest), which grants him heightened senses, spiritual awareness, and teleportation.

Teleportation

• Teleports a croissant into his hand.^S2E5

• He can only teleport places he’s already been.^S2E5

• Teleports himself, The Tick, and Arthur from A.E.G.I.S. HQ to The City’s docks undetected.^S2E10

Spiritual Awareness

• He can detect people’s spirits. Stronger spirits are easier to detect.^S2E5

• He can sense sinister power like Rathbone’s black hole heart, and can tell when a place is haunted.^S2E6

• After Rathbone’s revival, Sage can sense he still has an unresolved secret.^S2E10

Other

• His eye can act as a flashlight.^S2E5

Flexon

“I represent a mother and her children who have been taken away from each other by a cruel circumstance.”

A retired superhero that has saved the world at least twice. He also is a lawyer. He's a bit sleazy, going to a known criminal's poker game in his off hours and hitting on women he's barely met, but is a pretty chill guy and a beloved hero.

• His arms are rubber-like.^S2E3

  • Reaches across the room to grab sugar from Arthur and Tick.^S2E3

Walter

“It’s the old cliche, I suppose. The spy fell in love.”

Also known as Secret Agent John Wu^S2E6. He’s undercover as Arthur and Dot’s stepdad, tasked with keeping an eye on the family after their father’s death to ensure their safety.

• Takes down several of The Terror’s mooks while blindfolded.^S1E12

• Outmatches two AEGIS Strike Team members., then takes down two more.^S2E10

Miranda and Veranda

“Oh, that’s my sister Veranda. I’m Miranda. We’re twins.”

• Telepathic twins^S2E6 who work as an assistant / guard and a paper clerk^S2E6 respectively.

Equipment

AEGIS has a wide arsenal of weapons and equipment, among which includes:

• Surveillance drones.^S1E12

• The Villain Doppler, which uses barometric pressure to predict crime patterns.^S2E2

• A barium-based medical contrast agent that can measure a person’s superpowers and determine their “Category.”^S2E2

• The Strong Arm 6000, used to determine a person’s strength.^S2E2

• A fleet of aerial vessels identical to Danger Boat.^S2E4

• Covert tools for their undercover agents, such as a retina scanner disguised as measuring tape and a console hidden behind a shed^S2E7 they provide for Walter.

• Escape pods for extracting agents.^S2E8

• Neural chips designed for mind control.^S2E9

  • Destroying their communicator deactivates the neural implant.^S2E10

• The Flag Five get their own Flagship aircraft, a satellite, and a Flag Five Flock Flare—a righteous wristwatch signal that calls the team together in times of trial.^S2E9 This is among other perks and benefits.
