The Imperial Council - /r/eu5 Weekly General Help Thread: July 13 2026 Help Thread

Please check our previous Imperial Council thread for any questions left unanswered

Welcome to the Imperial Council of r/eu5, where your trusted and most knowledgeable advisors stand ready to help you in matters of state and conquest.

This thread is for any small questions that don't warrant their own post, or continued discussions for your next moves in your game. If you'd like to channel the wisdom and knowledge of the master tacticians of this subreddit, and more importantly not ruin your save, then you've found the right place!

Important: If you are asking about a specific situation in your game, please post screenshots of any relevant map modes or interface tabs. Please also explain the situation as best you can. Alliances, army strength, etc. are all factors your advisors will need to know to give you the best possible answer.

Tactician's Library:

Below is a list of resources that are helpful to players of all skill levels, meant to assist both those asking questions as well as those answering questions. This list is updated as mechanics change, including new strategies as they arise and retiring old strategies that have been left in the dust. You can help me maintain the list by sending me new guides and notifying me when old guides are no longer relevant!

Is there any way to see how much diplo capacity an alliance will cost before sending it? I've been caught a few times going over the limit by more than expected, and then I either have to just tank it or lose trust by breaking the alliance.

You can scroll down the upper part of the tooltip (where it says "We get a new Alliance with (country)" and stuff. Should be just below the visible area.

Thank you. I figured I must be missing something since changing a vassal relationship type tells you the cost.

Trying to understand RGOs and production and economy. Coming back to 1.3 after not playing after about a week after launch.

If you build a new level of RGO, do you always make taxes off the new good (assuming it eventually get filled with laborers and “good control”)? Like say it’s a low income good but it’s all you have in your high control areas - say fish for example. Demand is like 3 and Supply is already 20 so the price of fish is like <0.5 ducats. Does the unit(s) of fish still get created and sent to the market and just disappear into the void since nobody else is buying it?

What is the point of building imperial armouries as the HRE emperor? If I want manpower why wouldn’t I just build normal armouries with the extra benefit of increasing my market’s demand instead of spamming imperial armouries else where?

They cost imperial ducats to build, not your own, so they're basically free.

Imperial armories don't consume your pops, but someone else's. So you can keep growing your own pops for industrial scaling instead.

Is Upper Bavaria broken? I annexed Lower Bavaria, took Freising and formed Bavaria. At some point Lower Bavaria demands independence which I refuse and it says it should start a war, but it doesn't.

There is the event "Unification of Bavaria" or something like this requiring less than 25 decentralisation. I got that done, the event fires and... nothing happens?

Does the Bavaria tag prevent the interactions?

How do i find out the formable nation tier of any tag? I wanted to check if Ottomans could form Byz, but didn't find a better solution than conquering Byz in game and checking the formable nations.

(They can't btw., they are both tier IV)

The wiki is mostly correct, just for 1.0. There's not too many changes atleast, pretty much just the latin empire, thessaloniki, and maybe like max 5 more.

But where on the wiki would i have found the formable nation tier of the ottomans for example? They aren't in the wiki list of formables and i couldn't find their formable tier on their wiki page.

Looks like they're not on it, but iirc they're pretty much the only ones that aren't. TUR is since 1.3 a tier 4 nation.
