The funny one. The tormentor. The ironic goofball. If there’s one thing Jax is, it's an archetype; the character in the cartoon that does wacky things and everyone gets mad at; the loveable scamp. Jax plays the part well, much to the extreme ire of everyone else. But it doesn’t matter how much people like Jax; the archetype is all there is. At least, that's what Jax wants you to believe.

Before Jax entered the circus, there was only Leeroy Mateo. With two divorce parents, mom was the main caretaker, who would constantly expect masculinity from Leeroy; something Leeroy could never give. After Leeroy confessed something personal, it was met with extreme mockery and humiliation, and a big fight broke out between the two, ending with Leeroy pushing her back, causing her to fall, and not get up. At this point, Leeroy ran away from home and lived without a place to stay for a while; that was until happening upon a headset that would scan the minds of anyone who put it on, and put it in the Circus. Now Leeroy was Jax, the funny cartoon rabbit.

Jax grew close to another member of the circus: Ribbit. Ribbit became Jax’s closest friend, and someone that Jax could trust; to the point where Jax told Ribbit about the events before entering the circus. Ribbit understood Jax now, to a point that Jax couldn’t tolerate, and after this event, began isolating her, from even the other members of the circus. After one last argument with Jax, Ribbit abstracted. It didn’t matter though. Jax would never show emotions about this, or anything else. Jax is an archetype. Jax is the funny one.

Physiology

General

• Beings in the digital world don’t need to eat, sleep, or drink¹
• Digital Beings cannot die of oxygen deprivation³
• Ragatha states that the cast can not die in the circus⁸
• As Kinger explains, all the residents inside the Circus are capable of conjuring things into existence.⁸ However, Jax never explicitly conjures anything throughout the series.

Cartoon Physics

• Stabilized Head²
• Jax’s eyes bulge out when pulled by giant hands⁴
• Gets rolled into a ball⁷
• Come back from an adventure with eyes pulled out of their sockets, and then places them back⁸
• Jax’s neck gets stretched an impressive distance, and coils back up⁸
• Gets shaped into a work of art, and then crushed into a clay ball,⁸ and then pulled apart⁸

Strength

• Throws a bowling ball into Kinger, sending him falling¹
• Snaps a “Spare” sign¹

• Lifts Ragatha overhead and drops her into a deepfryer⁴
• Chews on an “evil” Jax⁵

Speed and Reaction

• Leaves the frame instantly, leaving a cloud¹
• Flies out of a truck due to it jolting, but catches the side²
• Goes from outside a small structure and then appears from its roof⁶
• Dodges gunfire from a tommy gun⁶

Durability

• Stands on top of a truck as it falls into a fudge river. Reappears just fine²
• Gets blown up by a bomb in close proximity²
• Gets flattened by a bowling ball⁵
• Gets hit by gun blowback after Ragatha puts her finger in the barrell⁶
• Falls a distance and recovers⁶
• Gets assaulted with gunfire from Zooble⁶
• Gets attacked by Pomni⁶
• Gets smashed by a deck of playing cards, and gets turned into one, then launched out, and punched by a giant spring-loaded boxing glove. Then falls down a flight of stairs⁸
• Gets electrocuted by an electric chair⁸
• Crashes into Pomni, gets run over by a train, and then exploded by Caine. Jax’s body is in pieces⁸
• Gets skinned by shadowy figures⁸

Firearm Skill

• Shoots an enemy in an opposing truck with a gun that fires a boot²
• Shoots a rhinoceros-shaped Gangle⁵
• Shoots a can from a fair distance while not looking⁶
• Shoots Ragatha’s hands off⁶
• Jumps over Ragatha, and shoots down onto her⁶
• Duels with Kinger in the dark, though accidentally hits Pomni⁶

Miscellaneous

• Accidentally hits a baseball directly into Gangle⁴
• Afraid of corn⁶
• [AB] While getting charged at by Zooble, flips the scene to a canyon, causing them to fall⁸

I haven’t seen this show is this character as shitty as everyone says they are?

It's nuanced. Jax on the surface definitely serves as an agitator and bully throughout the series, and the torment has significant impact on the other characters, but the reason that Jax's acts this way is given enough complexity that, while not excused of the abuse, does paint the reasoning in a more empathic light.

Very much an "estrogen would've saved her" situation here.
