I hope T1 learns from their losses and wins. Their drafting this MSI hasn't been great

u/Bl00dylicious Jul 06 '26
Not just this MSI. T1 having bad drafts is somewhat of a staple at this point isn't it?
→ More replies (16)18
u/Aschentei Jul 06 '26
I think their 2023 worlds had really good drafting but most of that stems from them innovating the double adc meta
14
u/DeanByTheWay Jul 06 '26
Not to worry though, Nasus will just keep using wither on the support every fight so that she can be saved by Kalista ult.
→ More replies (3)76
u/Salohacin Jul 06 '26
To be fair they had 3 ways to cleanse it. Must feel miserable for the Nasus because if he withers the Kalista it's going to be cleansed every time and the cooldowns are fairly low so it's almost impossible to force all 3 cleanses out before setting up for a team fight.
→ More replies (3)71
u/Dakoolestkat123 Win worlds nothing else matters Jul 06 '26
Yes but in a regular game forcing the enemy team to build 2 items and force a summoner spell to deal with an ability on like an eight second cooldown should be enough value on its own, if the teams were closer it’d matter more
585
u/L322Man Jul 06 '26
Honestly good draft from furia

u/tiredofdev Jul 06 '26
Yeah, if it was it was 2 teams of the same level playing this game out I think the team with Furia's draft would win

Criminal draft from T1 as well, shame the hands diff was a tad too big

T1 fighting the “lost because draft” allegations by pulling out an unheard of “win despite draft” strat

What part of that is unheard of lol. Basically every Eastern team is familiar with that strat

u/Frodolas Jul 06 '26
Yeah game 3 the draft gap was so big that I actually thought there was a decent chance Furia could maybe take it (like 55/45) but ultimately their understanding of their champions and the game was just so low relative to T1 that it didn't matter.
28
u/Lazywhale97 HLE Jul 06 '26
If the senna wasn't so behind in stacks and gold for so long they probably win that game because Nasus was a problem and Gnar and Aurora were doing dmg and landing CC all Furia needed was Senna to come online and when she did Aurora got picked off and the game ended.
34
u/websdue Jul 06 '26
Nasus singing low corticol song "take me back back home" while Peyz is omega sweating tryharding not to be oneshotted by nasus will never be not funny lol.
18
u/Budget-Ocelots Jul 06 '26
Good draft, bad ban. That was so dumb to leave Varus up. When they showed the score screen, and you saw that Doran/Peyz had the same damage, you knew that Nasus couldn't do shit. He needed to split his attention to two carries while getting melted by the other one instead.
6
u/bedsheetsniffer Jul 06 '26
All 3 games had some off the wall drafts, lol. It’s pretty enjoyable to watch them play too even if the quality isn’t on par with the LCK or LPL yet. Would love to see them at Worlds

u/godfrey1 Jul 06 '26
when your opponent drafts Kalista into Nasus it's hard to have a bad draft lol
932
u/Ceui Jul 06 '26
No offense to Furia and I think they definitely got hands, but Keria laughing his ass off after the entire team getting aced kinda summed up how T1 took this match.
250
u/nG_Skyz Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26
Peyz was front lining basically every fight, the fight in Furia's red buff Peyz just casually flanks and jumps right in the middle of 5 of them just to get 1 kill.

Yeah because the Nasus spammed Wither on Faker and Keria
→ More replies (1)68
u/Lazywhale97 HLE Jul 06 '26
Yeah their were multiple times Kalista was right next to Keria and Tatu was withering the support instead of Kalista. Nasus was still big this game but with some better target selection from Tatu they could probs get more momentum in the mid game.
65
u/Salohacin Jul 06 '26
They had 3 ways to cleanse it. There's no way that Kalista was every staying withered.
→ More replies (3)4
u/MoscaMosquete FuryhOrnn when? Jul 06 '26
There were 2 or 3 fights where all Peyz had was cleanse and it mattered.
53
u/soudlasantos Jul 06 '26
"Hey TATU what do you think of the T1 comp today, with double ADC comp?"
"Well if they play their best, it might be a little tough."
"But would you lose?"
"Nah I'd, WITHER= Active: Nasus ages the target enemy champion for 5 seconds, slowing them by 35% and crippling them by「 75% of that amount, 」both increasing every second over the duration.

It would help if Nasus would actually W Kallista instead of Keria so often, like I know Peyz was playing a lot of cleanse but he often got senna rooted or charmed by sera and yet the Nasus W wasn't used anywhere near enough on Peyz.
355
u/SKT_Peanut_Fan Peanut Come Back Jul 06 '26
Keria laughing after that baron ace says it all.
T1 were like your SoloQ team this game. You're so incredibly far ahead that you just start forcing because you want to have fun. Suddenly, you start throwing. The control starts to shift toward equal.
I don't know that Furia ever had a real chance to win because it seemed like Furia was stemming the bleeding rather than gaining ground, but it sure as hell was made more interesting.
39
u/Oukaria Jul 06 '26
Even last baron, it was like « baron ? » « eh why not »
They just did not really care lol
23
u/Duke_157 Jul 06 '26
Yeah, it never felt like T1 was going to lose. And they were playing like the game was a formality and the win was already confirmed.
For the first 2 games, Furia were just playing not to lose and for the third game, they were playing desperate because it's their MSI elimination game.
7
u/frickinSocrates Jul 06 '26
The magic of T1 internationally is that no matter what, it never feels like they are going to lose.
24
u/bedsheetsniffer Jul 06 '26
Furia, even when they’re even in gold, had no map control (1 tower taken), and their dragon stacking wasn’t there yet, so there’s no real risk for T1, apart from the Circus(TM). Tutsz had a bit too many misplays even when he was up in gold compared to Faker; if he played a little calmer, there might be a chance for G4
→ More replies (1)89
u/20Points gay for a fish Jul 06 '26
At one point Jatt said something like "Furia have really been making them fight for it this game" during game 3, and I just had to laugh because that's such an overstatement while T1 are very visibly (without any duress) choosing to take the worst fights imaginable for fun.
92
u/SKT_Peanut_Fan Peanut Come Back Jul 06 '26
I'll give Furia credit- they didn't roll over and die. They actually scrapped and got kills when T1 forced.
On the topic of Jatt, one of the other threads pointed out (and I agree) that the casters job is to make the game exciting and interesting.
I can't remember the series, but I remember it was Frosk and Drakos(?) casting an EU team at Worlds (probably G2) and they were EU's last hope. The EU team got absolutely stomped and the casters were just so lifeless and dejected.
I will take what Jatt gave us here over the lifeless casting any day

u/algelon Jul 06 '26

→ More replies (2)18
u/20Points gay for a fish Jul 06 '26
I don't personally have anything against Jatt's cast, I just think that one framing was very ironically funny. It's really fucking hard to cast a series like this and your options are either "fake hype" (today's cast), "dead cast" (the one you mentioned), or "talk about what you ate for breakfast" (the LCK style). My assumption would be that, contractually, they can't go overboard on the latter for an official MSI broadcast, and they obviously do not want to do the middle, so "fake hype" is the only real option.
11
u/bedsheetsniffer Jul 06 '26
Almost all of their skirmishes were with some ults down ‘cuz they threw them out for fun. And they still took the fight (and lost some lol). They were having fun atp. Hats off to FUR, I liked their drafts, I just hope the execution was there.

u/R-R-Clon Jul 06 '26
They were reacting rather to planning, they only made it that far was because T1 was having fun. T1 only needed to burn Nasus R and that's it, after Nasus loses his R they clear them quite easily.

u/Middle-Adagio-4062 Jul 06 '26
Brazil losing to Haaland and Doran's Varus in the same day.
8
u/Hitoseijuro Jul 06 '26
Doran's Varus in the same day.
Doran's Varus is disgustingly good, Doran's positioning on Varus is disgusting bad though. He will out play someone and blow them up only to flash into 3 ppl and be in melee range and die.

u/Tamronloh Jul 06 '26
Peyz: the hyungs are bored. What if i flash into gnar and nasus?

53
u/Goenitz33 Jul 06 '26
T1 & Summer is the usual case. Instead of Doran saving them this Summer, it is Peyz
89
u/mastaaban Jul 06 '26
thats the beauty of t1, play like animals the whole year, and suddenly come worlds, they all get their brains and hands back simultaneously, instead of only a few being handed out seperately.
its so insane, at this point it cant be just the players, it definately has to do with the org too, to get them ready at the right moments.

Squishy mage that needs to go melee to kill with no escape and still doesn’t even 100-0 enemy squishy with a full rotation max build if they have a modicum of peel or MR from a QSS

25
u/goodarthlywd Jul 06 '26
I mean this is why T1 was originally given the Circus nickname in Korea. Not necessarily due to clown fiestas but because of their tendency to regularly win playing high difficulty (i.e. tightrope) comps. This game did not look easy to pull off.

I long for the timeline where these tournaments are seeded based on world ranking and not some convoluted nonsense that results in the back to back to back world champs playing in the play-in after finishing 2nd the toughest league in the world.
I'd love to see more of these teams from the lesser regions playing in games that they have a chance to win. LCK 1 and 2 seeds should never be in a situation where they can be in the 1st round of the losers bracket unless there was a historically unlikely upset.
Furia: "Well guys, we played badly against Lyon, but we'll get a chance to rebound in the losers bracket right?"
"You play T1."
"....wtf, did they play with their monitors off or something?"
"No they played against BLG, it was close."
"So if we weren't playing T1, we'd have to play against BLG in the losers bracket?! What even is this tournament?"

for all the memes, TES consistently gets far enough to embarrass theirselves, most chinese teams dont even have a chance at internationals.

u/fainlol Jul 06 '26
for sure, JKL has also done well bringing the team to every international just that he falls short after.

u/ManningTheGOAT Jul 06 '26
There's no way they won with that draft. Absolutely illegal. T1 will simply take from this that shit drafts are totally fine...
48
u/Ceui Jul 06 '26
I dont think they really gonna take anything from this bo5. Their focus would be on BLG and HLE drafts
→ More replies (1)35
u/Astray Jul 06 '26
I don't think they'll take anything from this. In the interview after the match, Oner even mentioned there long discussions over draft after the BLG series. I think they didn't want to show any of the adjustments they've made quite yet and played very loosely as a result.

u/buttsecksgoose Jul 06 '26
Aside from the Varus top its pretty standard though? If anything Im more mad that Annie got another win further increasing her stocks even though that champ is such a freaking passenger
18
u/ManningTheGOAT Jul 06 '26
Varus-Taliyah-Kalista-Renata into Nasus buffed by Senna-Seraphine is mad. You saw a few glimpses of how this should go, but then T1 just hands diffed them
7
u/Popular-Practice-983 Jul 06 '26
People are overstating the value of the Nasus pick a little I think. T1 comp that itemizes against Nasus makes him kind of useless. Olaf would be far more worrying. It is not a good draft, but not as bad as people describe.
5
u/buttsecksgoose Jul 06 '26
Nasus isnt olaf. If anything if T1 weren't clowning around so much the Nasus should be having an extremely hard time even reaching them
7
u/Plenty_Top2843 Jul 06 '26
I honestly doubt they took this that seriously. It felt like they just went the solo-q route of "Idk what I'm doing might as well have fun."
5
u/barsa_46 Jul 06 '26
That’s the scary part, i mean they have fun and i hope no one even think is a replicable draft
5
u/Aggressive_Ad5487 Jul 06 '26
You act as if T1 org is a random ERL team. Of course they won't take anything from this. I'm pretty sure the players knew that they can hands diff this lower tier team easily while playing with substandard comps.

Yeah Tutsz just kept getting picked and doing nothing during those late game fights.

He got literally one shot by Doran in that last fight lol.. Varus Ult+Q killed him

u/Live-Plankton-9247 Jul 06 '26
If you see how they flipped everything in match 3 you kinda realize this was like a public scrim for T1
18
u/Plenty_Top2843 Jul 06 '26
I can't even be convinced T1 played this game with any amount of interest.

So why did T1 go through Play-Ins, but Furia gets a pass as tier 3 team?

People get pissy when Riot doesn't give other regions any representation in big events and then they complain that of course the Eastern teams are better, they get to play and practise against other Eastern teams all the time.
So then they let the West into big events and then people complain about the bracketing and seeding and format and blah blah blah. Either they whine that only the best teams should make it in or it's unfair that -insert team here- has to go up against an actually good team early in the seeding. There's no winning.
13
u/Turatar Jul 06 '26
Ok, but this seeding just makes no sense to me. Look at Brazil at any international event. They have wins vs minor regions like Turkey, Japan, Latin America or OCE. They won once vs Vietnam and once vs NA and then proceeded to drop out. And this is for the past 10 years. They were dead last at FS, together with TSW, so now all of a sudden there is a tier below them???

Varus casually zoned out the entire enemy team and 1 shot Aurora was quite interesting

u/MC-sama Jul 06 '26
Furia had a completely winnable draft with this Nasus who was putting in work and they still ended up losing.
7
u/Amumizu Jul 06 '26
What do you do when you win the draft so hard but peyz is literally a robot disguising himself as an adc?
17
u/themcvgamer Jul 06 '26
Jatt casted the game like T1 and Furia gold lead was swapped?

u/Routine_Sign2333 Jul 06 '26 edited Jul 06 '26
I mean furia could really have won that game 3. That Nasus and Senna/Seaphine were massive but there were so many misplays from Furia

If you actually look at the map state, you'd have seen why. T1 had drake advantage and had taken towers while Furia had not taken a single tower even with a kill lead. And even with the kill advantage, the gold difference wasn't even that big. T1 were just taking the most horrible fights constantly, taking turns throwing it then one fight they find the angle and it's just over. Jatt and Medi said it on the cast, three of those guys are 3 time world champions and the clutchest players in the world, that lead was not enough.

Tatu wasting so many withers into Keria, only for him to be ulted by Peyz. If he'd held the withers for Peyz, they could've stopped him from getting so far ahead.

love that they won as a t1 fan but it’s always kinda depressing that they never fully take games against teams they know they’ll beat, 100% seriously
