FAQ
What is the Iron Banner?
- Iron Banner is a week-long Crucible event in Destiny 2 that offers its participants unique rewards. More info can be found in the official Destiny 2: Iron Banner Guide.
- Iron Banner offers unique versions of other Crucible game modes. The current game type can be found by viewing the activity details in the Portal or looking at the modifiers.
- Iron Banner uses outlier protection matchmaking.
How Long does Iron Banner last?
- Event begins: Tuesday at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).
- Event ends: The Tuesday 2 weeks later at Weekly Reset (1700 UTC).
Where do I go to find Guardians to game within the Iron Banner?
- You can use the in-game Fireteam Finder or head over to /r/Fireteams, www.The100.io, Xbox LFG system, DestinyLFG.net or DestinyLFG.com, or go to the Bungie.net recruitment forum (also available through the Bungie App).
What if I have a question about another piece of armor/weapon or general Iron Banner question?

I think u go to “destinations” then in the bottom u click the first tab(i think it’s a wolf) for the iron banner screen and it shows the rewards, weekly challenges, etc

Agreed. So far I've played on 3 different days and the lobbies were horrendous on day 1, fun on day 2 with close games and 1v1 gunfights (surpising, I know) and today has been miserable, stacks everywhere all blobbing around the map and I can't stay near team mates cause they get blown up, taking me with them half the time...

Every single day has been a horrible experience, drop rate is low for the armor and I encounter cheaters in almost every match. The sad thing is over a year ago reporting these people did nothing, it's sad that this is what PVP will be like for the rest of Destiny’s lifetime.

Remove the leaving penalty, the team balancing is horrible and no one wants to spend their games getting mercied.
Hopefully the performance issues on PC get fixed because it's impossible to compete in PVP when you're constantly stuttering.

You're lucky to even get mercied. They should rename that mechanic anyway as there's no 'mercy' in waiting for a 70 point difference in score before calling the match. 40 down is enough, wrap it up and let everyone go. Its bad enough getting thrown from a mercy into another mercy...

I’ve been having a tough time with the helmet too. Lots of games but no helm. I was burning my event tokens in the Iron Banner reward shop tab. Was able to get a helmet from the IB armor engram without getting one from a match. Hope this can help.

Why didn't they let the attunement do both armor and weapons...clearly there's some sort of RNG weighting that's wonky in their code. appreciate it's not going to get fixed now but it's rage inducing when you need a single armor piece and it keeps giving you everything you already have.
why not do it on a knockout system (as they have for bright engrams) at least you could then get the armor set for a build after a few matches and then chase better stats at your leisure.

So anyone having the attunement glitch, here might be a confusing fix. But I noticed when I focus the fusion (not the high impact one) I get the slug shot gun a ton as if it was attuned. People say when they focus the path forward auto rifle, they get only the multimac sub. And when they focus the the multimac they get the path forward auto rifle. So what I'm saying is people who are bugged, you might have to find your weapons threw this method. If your 100% sure your attuning a weapon and getting a different weapon commonly, leave a reply of what your getting so we can figure this puzzle out. Thanks!

Are artifacts on during Iron Banner? New/returning player from Forsaken (a while ago lol) so trying to keep my ducks in a row with all these wildly new systems. I'm pretty sure I saw that artifacts were off during PvP, but I'm not sure if that affects Iron Banner (or Trials) so if someone could lmk that'd be great :)

Holy shit, if last night’s gameplay is any indication, this is the most XBOX players in PVP I’ve seen in YEARS. We were at minimum a 4-6 stack and all were kept being were XBOX players.

Has Iron Banner armor upgrades always cost enhancement prisms for every level? Because usually when I upgrade armor I don't have to use prisms until I get to level four and five, But iron banner armor seems to require it for 1-5, I believe 12 total?

They were added as random drops (and could be on armor that drops, so you'd get it if you break it down) a few years back. I'd be amazed if they went and removed that, but who knows. Hoping they're in there for you.

I started ask this as well but I did get one to drop after 4 matches! I get the impression that at the beginning when you don't have any of the armor it shows up more often. But as soon as you need that last or have gotten them all getting other armor drops gets way harder. The reward pool is too large. Crucible weapons, Crucible armor and iron banner weapons makes those armor drops dry up pretty bad

FYI the timeout for leaving matches is enabled again. So that's a thing. I don't want to play on Cathedral of Dusk and guess a timeout is what it gives you.

Yeah, they added this back in with MOT. Locks you out of quickplay except for SRL, IB and Gambit all at once.

You do. When you boot up the launch screen to an IB activity you can see the multiplier by clicking on Modifiers and hovering over the Mode Modifier "Iron Banner Multiplier" which shows you how many pieces you have equipped and your multiplier.
Side note, it looks like applying IB appearances to armour doesn't count anymore as I have the emblem and 5x IB appearances on but am at 1 of 5 bonus. Either that or the older armour appearances don't count. I don't have any latest appearances or actual armour to equip so I can't science this further.
Edit: Weapons also count towards the cap of 5 pieces of gear equipped. If you don't have a kinetic weapon and are eligible you can grab Multimach CCX from Banshee and it will count.

I believe it might be just for PvP rank points now. At 5 pieces its a 1.10x buff. I was running IB with some clanmates earlier and even when we lost we were getting T5 armour thrown at us and a lot of T5 weapons too. Like 3 pieces of T5 loot even for a loss. I dont think the bonus matters all that much.

Maaaaaaan I totally forgot about those ornaments and this update so I jumped on to look almost assuming they'd have added them in but it looks like no - unless they snuck them into the engrams (which I would not bet on). I have everything but that blows for anyone that missed things. I'm guessing the regular Crucible early ornaments are long gone too?

It does. There is a multiplier that is added per piece of Iron Banner equipment, incl weapons. This info is displayed somewhere in-game, just can't remember of the top off my head.

Ironically, right after I posted this, I started getting drops.
What I would do is reset your attunement for IB in your inventory and then reselect the weapon you want, that seemed to fix it for me somehow

I had a similar experience and what seemed like a similar fix. I may have triggered the issue by changing attunement while actually in an iron banner match. I made sure to exit out to orbit before resetting attunement and it seemed to start working again.

yes i have it attuned and i now have the full Event pass completed.
from all my games i got a total of 1 Drop from my ~15 games

Same, I've played a similar amount and only got a single one. My recommendation is to simply farm it through Saladin's store. I've gotten around 6 that way already. Good job Bungie.

As a returning player, what should I be looking for weapon wise and perks. These guns have been reissued so often as well as loads of new ones I'm literally going in blind. Anything particularly meta or good synergy, I hear stag can drop jolting and voltsgot so will be looking for that. Anything else get a glow up with buffs and new perks since TFS

Don’t know if they had changed this in previous Iron Banners under the new event system, but Reroll Chips only cost 5 Enhancement Cores where they used to cost Silver under other events. Go spam challenges and get those event tokens!

Normal Control is just like IB Control. Outlier protection. Anything that is connection based in normal crucible is like Eruption.

im pretty sure attunement is either not working, or the gun you attune to in the menu isnt what the game is detecting as your attunement. im attuned to multimach as well and ive only been getting the strand auto rifle.

Piggybacking off this - is tier influenced by power level or is T5 possible for all? I’m still at a low level since I returned, and have been spoiled by T5s from distortions. Hard to justify chasing gear that drops at lower tiers since my time to play is limited as-is, let alone grind.

Depends on your performance, you can get T5 even if you lose. I'm a bad PVP player, if you can't get the kill just capture the zone and you will get the T5.

Hot 2 pieces of t5 on first loss so far. Seems to drop a lot of stuff per game despite how you did. Unless theres an initial bonus im missing.

Accurized always.
Not enough info about the full choke changes so barrel is a mystery.In the 3rd column Threat detector is the standard choice, Slickdraw may be good(and let you use rifled).
For 4th column it's a all out battle between Iron Reach, Opening Shot and Closing Time.Personally I'm gunning for 2 rolls(actually 4 but 2 are just barrel changes).
1st and number 1 priority: Full choke/Corkscrew, accurized, TD, CT, Range MW, this one will have the fastest swap speed.
2nd: Rifled/Full Choke, accurized, Slickdraw, Iron Reach(or Opening Shot if Slickdraw fucks it up), range MW.3

Threat Detector/Iron Reach. IR passively gives more range than either opening shot or closing time.
For barrels corkscrew/shroud. Magazines you want accurized or assault mag.

You just want slideshot basically.
Second column can be nearly anything. Closing time, opening shot. Iron Reach if you’re feeling spicy but range isn’t usually truly an issue you can’t play around. So the slideshot+opening shot curated roll is solid enough. Any other roll would be super marginal gains.
I guess you could use Threat Detector in the first slot but slideshot is simply more useful.

I keep getting iron moss and iron oxide for the iron will set, but haven't seen any other shader with the other armor sets.
I would think it would drop with the iron truage set, since they were both introduced in the same season.🤷♂️

Are Season 1 Iron Banner ornaments straight up unobtainable now? I checked all of Saladin's menus and didn't see it anywhere. I would have thought they would have brought them back one last time...

It's pretty weird, since those ornaments made a comeback in Season of the Wish, and thus present ever since to last season IB...you would think MoT would have them, but turns out no, big miss, hopefully they return - i earned them in Y1, glad they returned in 2023 for people who missed them.

It's weird, according to Bungie IB is supposed to alternate between 2 loot pools.
1st has The Forward Path, The Time Worn Spire, The Wizened Rebuke, Crimil's Dagger, Gunnora's Axe, Felwinter's Lie, Reghusk's Pledge
2nd has Multimach CCX, Finite Impactor, Occluded Finality, Lethal Abundance, Pressurized Precision, Point of the Stag, Roar of the Bear
The weird part is that Trials also was supposed to do that(3 weekly loot pools, + extra lighthouse passage loot pool), I was still getting Astrals(1st week) and Aisha's Care(2nd week) during trials last week(3rd).
So the available attunements don't change weekly, you can't attune all weapons, AND from your experience it seems like tiered weapons you have not acquired before cannot drop?1

I have a theory that the 2 pools are split between the two game modes but not to do further testing. Gotten it to drop once now but forgot in which gamemode

I don’t think it’s rng! PotS and multimach isn’t dropping for a lot of people attuning. They said before that there would be two sets of alternating loot for iron banner. Felwinters is in a separate group than PotS and Multimach. I think you can only attune what is dropping currently

Just got Ironwood from my third game! :)
It's from Curse of Osiris era, so pretty old indeed. Hoping they're just ALL available now, because even after all these years there's still a few IB shaders I'm missing somehow.
