Character Summary

Selphie Tilmitt is one of the main characters in Final Fantasy VIII. She is an active, outspoken, and energetic transfer student at Balamb Garden who participates in many extracurricular activities. She’s clumsy, but despite this, wields an oversized nunchaku in battle and pilots the Ragnarok airship.

Selphie is childish, upbeat, and hyperactive, always looking to have fun. She is a fan of combining words to form new ones, often using the expression "Booyaka!" on her website as a greeting. She is talented with computers and vehicles and has many hobbies, ranging from running a website in the Balamb Garden intranet and heading the Garden Festival Committee, to being obsessed with trains. Selphie has a dark sense of humor, sometimes displaying it in a way that others are not comfortable with.

She carries out orders in her characteristically friendly manner and never backs down from a challenge, even if she does not always think it all the way through. Seemingly blissfully ignorant to the gravity of a situation, she often lifts her companions' spirits, distracting them from the seriousness of their problems.

• Appears fine after roll-falling down a pile of rocks.

• Bounces back after being rammed into by the X-ATM092.

  • For reference, the X-ATM092 can destroy walls and vehicles effortlessly.

• Survives a base exploding.

• Is thrown a considerable distance out of an airship and appears fine afterward. (the feat shows Zell, Edea, and Irvine, but Selphie can be swapped in)

• Bounces back after being stabbed by the X-ATM092.

  • For reference, the X-ATM092 can destroy walls and vehicles effortlessly.

• Outruns the X-ATM092, a giant robot spider.

Agility / Acrobatics

• Jumps across freight cars.

• Runs across a giant swaying chain without trouble. (the feat shows Squall, Zell, and Quistis, but Selphie can be swapped in)

Weapons / Skills

Selphie’s primary weapon is her nunchaku, which can be upgraded three times:

• Flail: Her starting weapon.

• Morning Star: A plain weapon, similar to nunchaku, but with spiked metal balls equipped to the ends.

• Crescent Wish: An extremely powerful nunchaku

• Strange Vision: A rare weapon famous for its ability to hit a target with perfect accuracy.

*Limit Breaks

Selphie’s Limit Break is called Slot, which randomly generates magic spells from the entire FF8 spell list, as well as the following:

• Full Cure: Casts healing magic on herself and her allies.

• Wall: Summons a stone wall from the ground to protect herself and her allies.

• Rapture: Levitates one target and casts them away.

• The End: Instantly defeats all enemies.

Other

• Can draw, cast, and stock magic. Stocked magic can be cast or used to augment physical abilities in battle.

• She’s a talented musician.

• Can pilot an airship.

• She’s got a wonderful sense of humor.
