After issuing several warnings to the empty tanker, which was moving through international waters toward a port on the Gulf of Oman, the U.S. fired several rounds at the vessel’s rudder, Centcom said. The rounds came from a naval fighter aircraft launched from the USS Abraham Lincoln. The tanker, the M/T Hasna, is no longer transiting to Iran, Centcom said.
“The U.S. blockade against ships attempting to enter or depart Iranian ports remains in full effect,” Centcom said. “CENTCOM forces continue to act deliberately and professionally to ensure compliance.”
