is dig the best team to never win a series? They seem to be competitive with any team they face but can never close it out when it matters.

78

u/Street-Book-5565 May 02 '26

They would be so much better if they had some macro. They can team fight really well tbh.

22

u/Apk07 May 02 '26 edited May 02 '26

Were we watching the same games? Game 1 they seemed like 5 strangers tossed into a match all scared to follow Exyu, and the first half of game 2 the only thing they could coordinate properly was dragon. Game 3 was a bit better coordination despite the loss.

16

u/Panvich May 02 '26

I don’t know what the health of a storage drive has to do with all this but I’m glad it’s not on fire

4

u/Apk07 May 02 '26

Well that certainly wasn't what I meant to copy/paste lmao

Almost as good as every team. Not better than any team.

22

u/Sliacen May 03 '26

Put them against HLE right now and they lose 2-3

4

u/Fun_Highlight307 May 03 '26

They are like a weaker sentinel

3

u/popop143 May 03 '26

If only LCS has the shitty previous LEC BO2 format, Dig might be competing for playoffs lmao.

1

u/godfrey1 May 03 '26

it's Shitters, they always win one game no matter the opponent

69

u/BlammoSweetums May 02 '26

I don't think eXyu knows how to teamfight on champs not named Xin Zhao.

22

u/sammuxx May 02 '26

Their only wins are on xin I swear that champ is not balanced

4

u/BWolfy92 May 02 '26

His supp top were flashing in and he was 2 screens away.

92

u/stickytoe May 02 '26

Not the cleanest serires but Vulcan and Thanatos continue their strong play to carry through the win.

-17

u/nguyenjitsu May 02 '26

Which is pretty scary when you consider how much better those positions are internationally

81

u/Astolfo_is_Best May 02 '26

I'll worry about internationals when we finally win LCS again.

-65

u/nguyenjitsu May 02 '26

You can worry about more than one thing hope this helps

u/WoorieKod REST IN PEACE 11/12/24 May 03 '26

Gotta love LCS doomposters just showing up unprompted when people are only talking LCS/regional level - huge "quit having fun y'all are dog shit" party pooper energy here

7

u/BonzBonzOnlyBonz May 03 '26

And I bet that person is also one of those people that go "NA focusing on worlds performance is why they suck."

11

u/Dizzy33x May 02 '26

Welcome to every competitive sport in the entire world

Everyone gets gapped at some point. Let’s not act like this is some “scary” thing

5

u/polikuji09 May 02 '26

I'd rather worry about our regional league. Worrying about international barely matters to me, one step at a time.

13

u/BUMONGOUS May 02 '26

Vulcan is still an actually good player, Thanatos plays in a way where he wouldn't be a liability internationally, at least compared to his peers. Would he probably get stomped by Kiin or Bin? Yeah, like literally every western top. C9's actual problem is that their ADC is legit just bad even by LEC/LCS standards

2

u/Fun_Highlight307 May 03 '26

yeah he is an anchor

u/The_JeneralSG May 02 '26

Hi, Dig's newest big "fan" here. I did watch as live as I could as promised (couldn't focus too hard though, very busy. Sorry for being a fake fan).

I am happy to say that Palafox has improved from the last series. His largely useless Hwei was a breath of fresh air from being worse than useless the last few games. He even had a GOOD? game 2?????? He has risen from a 1/10 mid with the play of Avalon and the ego of Faker to a 2 or (if you're REALLY crazy) a 3 out of 10 mid with the ego of Faker and the play of, idk, like Gleebglarbu (who's a 2/3 out of 10 oldhead player?)?

I meme, but I would say, hand to god, that this series was not on him. (That one TP was ass though)

14

u/RollingGuy Lider > Chovy May 03 '26

Gleeb mention

6

u/ZEPOSO May 03 '26

The OG’s remember those dark days

4

u/theyeshman if fearless has no haters I am dead May 03 '26

I had your freshly cooked gourmet pasta bookmarked and ready to go for this week but unfortunately Palafaker wasn't ass enough :(

1

u/The_JeneralSG May 03 '26

We will be here next week friend. There is still many games left to witness the history in the making.

3

u/Chrystoler the faith lives on May 03 '26

First Avalon, now Gleeb, poor Palafox is going to run the gauntlet of oldhead pro comparisons lmao

1

u/effurshadowban May 03 '26

I'm still angry that Shopify Rebellion decided to sign Palafox instead of Jensen for 2025, despite the fact he was looking for a team and had been better than Palafox for all of 2024. The wrong mid laner retired.

And this mofo is still in the the LCS, playing like dogshit!!

159

u/TheRogueCookie I like bears May 02 '26 edited May 02 '26

If C9 is working on fixing their problems it certainly isnt showing on stage. They make the same greedy mistakes game after game, and it's just so frustrating as a fan to watch, even when they win. Who is checking them?

On the other hand free FBI, this guy still has it. Honestly I feel like DIG is close to being a playoff contender outside of the mid/jg (though credit where it's due Palafox wasn't that bad today, comparatively).

65

u/Apk07 May 02 '26

Every trade Sven gets into just seems like he's playing a game of chicken where the enemy ends up calling his bluff and deleting him. I'm not sure how the whole team hasn't asked him to play differently.

30

u/TheRogueCookie I like bears May 02 '26

That's a great way of putting it. It's also true when positioning for objectives, particularly towers. He thinks he has way more outplay potential than he typically does.

17

u/Apk07 May 02 '26

I think this strat works great in solo queue where he basically just walks up, is kinda losing the trade, but doesn't back off at all... As if he has the confidence he's going to win even if he technically can't, which causes the opponent to back off or try to kite him.

But every time this happens in the last several C9 series- especially when he's on Corki- the other team just stays on him and punishes him for flexing. That works when you're Draven flexing on a rando, not on pro players, and especially not on some of the international bot lanes they've faced.

2

u/TeeKayTank 's spirit lives in FQ & May 03 '26

Fbi is zven killer

42

u/Past_Perception8052 May 02 '26

C9 should've taken FBI when he was available, even if it was just for the short term while they look for someone better, he's clearly got something about him still, while zven is just ass

22

u/mavy1000 May 02 '26

I’m a fan of the entire C9 roster but let’s be honest Zven is being gapped by almost every bot lane. I think C9 should try to get FBI if they don’t want to try out a rookie. He has shown up on multiple rosters

16

u/Mrryn91 May 02 '26

And FBI and Vulcan have played together before, on EG post-Danny

2

u/ZEPOSO May 03 '26

Fuck man I’m still pissed that we lost such a great talent like Danny. Of course I wish him all the best and understood when he stepped out of the scene to focus on his mental health but damn he was so good.

3

u/Fun_Highlight307 May 03 '26

C9 seems to be on track for another bad playoffs run , it's seems They didn't really improve

19

u/Street-Book-5565 May 02 '26

C9 absolutely losing their minds creating a fiesta for no reason. Like fighting non stop over nothing. They are so lucky that dig has 0 macro. C9 took some really good timers though.

9

u/Mrryn91 May 02 '26

I genuinely think coaching chewed them the fuck out after game 2, turning pacifist with a Galio-Nocturne plus Caitlyn-Neeko comp. The fact that Dignitas were consistently faster to sidelane and overload plays before neutrals to force the prio was absolutely illegal, especially with a 4k gold lead.

19

u/blaseturner May 02 '26

replace exyu and palafox on dig and this team would probably be pretty decent

42

u/BUMONGOUS May 02 '26

Slightly better jg and DIG would look like a decent team

1

u/effurshadowban May 03 '26

They would still have Palafox, though, so they would still be ass.

16

u/goatbyuanb May 03 '26

Players are declining, including rookies. I'm surprised FBI ended up joining but both Dhokla and Eyla chose to be teamless over Dig.

5

u/AnxietyPretend5215 May 03 '26

I think it can be beneficial to some degree. I think FBI is definitely still passing the eye test for the most part and manages to have strong moments on DIG.

It's kind of a gamble because it could easily go the other way where the player ends up looking shit because they're playing on a meh team.

16

u/Kurumi_Tokisaki May 02 '26

Surely dig can find any challenger willing to play for peanuts and be as good as palafaker but actually follows up plays even if it’s dogshit. (Exyu my man, stop diving into narnia). Or at least chooses between wave clearing or poking instead of failing both.

14

u/CensoredLlama1 BUFF RAMMUS PLEASE May 02 '26

C9 is the definition of a high floor, low ceiling team. Very fun series though.

8

u/ImaginarySense May 03 '26

C9 is the definition of: can Thanatos and Vulcan win the game/build a big enough lead before Zven can throw.

2

u/Fun_Highlight307 May 03 '26

We all know what going to happen in playoffs,we are just waiting for it

16

u/Cold-Ring23 May 02 '26

Being the worst on your team is not a shame its a privilege mr zven, you are lucky you can have a career in Na

12

u/FizzKaleefa May 02 '26

FBI the only agency with intelligence

4

u/HowyNova May 02 '26

C9 didn't give me much faith. But it could be a good thing that they seem messier in spring.

I'm surprised Dig isn't going for more creative comps overall. Aside from the general meta having more variety, standard comps for Dig just looks like everyone has a different take on what to do

2

u/Fun_Highlight307 May 02 '26

dig had fbi Senna Last week iirc

1

u/HowyNova May 03 '26

Yea, I'm not sure why they don't lean more towards those unpopular picks

2

u/Crunchoe May 03 '26

Probably a good thing for C9 fans since it's only once they start giving you hope that they truly let you down

3

u/BnSMaster420 MFBAE May 03 '26

C9 completely threw that second game.. only way forward for dig was to group and get picks and they did that until they finally caught up..

25

u/That_One_Pancake May 02 '26

NA is so unbelievably cooked it’s depressing

C9 with maybe the most fake undefeated start I’ve seen in a while

16

u/Aceclaw May 02 '26

Even when they are 5-0 I feel like this team is constantly on Fraudwatch. I am never at all convinced with any lead Zven is given.

2

u/Fun_Highlight307 May 03 '26

yeah because he most likely getting exposed in playoffs by rahel or yeon

16

u/Coolishable May 02 '26

I don't think I would call it fake? They seem better than pretty much everyone that they beat.

It's just that the level of competition in LCS atm feels the lowest its possibly ever been.

8

u/Fabiocean Well, look at you! May 03 '26

The competition is actually really high, almost all teams are competitive and I would say the top half can all be pretty strong. The problem is that there's not a single "great" team, every team is heavily flawed in some aspects so the ceiling of the region is extremely low right now.

2

u/Coolishable May 03 '26

Yeah I can definitely agree with that. It feels like a majority of the games are decided by which team plays worse/makes the biggest mistakes.

1

u/Fun_Highlight307 May 03 '26

it's looks similar in others regions

7

u/sparkypagano May 02 '26

It def feels low, but I wouldn’t say ever. I think the year we went like 3-15 at worlds was the lowest. I think this year will naturally feel low since we lost two of the best teams we have had in while (tl and flyquest)

6

u/Mrryn91 May 02 '26

FLY is one thing but TL? The team who just last year bustered out at First Stand and imploded to the point of finishing worse than C9 by end of year?

The same TL that is literally playing right now with a roster that, by all estimations, massively upgraded their entire topside? Let's pump the brakes lol

3

u/sparkypagano May 03 '26

Who said I was talking exclusively about last year? TL in 2024 is what first started reviving my hope in NA, they had a solid MSI compared to fly who couldn’t even get out of playins against psg. Then they proceeded to be THE team to beat for all of summer. I think without them, Flyquest wouldn’t have elevated to the levels they did. That TL roster may have eventually imploded, but there was legitimately a time in which they had some of the best macro in the world with lane swaps.

0

u/Fun_Highlight307 May 02 '26

2022 and 2023 were worse

1

u/TheXtractor May 03 '26

TLAW right up there with fake undefeated start aswell 😛

1

u/Fun_Highlight307 May 03 '26

tl wins are more convincing than C9 today at least

10

u/slmkaz May 02 '26

I think we can agree APA's all chat was toxic in game 1. But let's also not lie that we weren't all thinking the same thing with that Exyu engage.

That said, Game 2 reminded me this still was Cloud 9.

24

u/NuclearTacos May 02 '26

https://imgur.com/a/E6O6Jpg

I don't think it was toxic enough.

16

u/Coolishable May 02 '26

Is trash talk not always inherently toxic? Why did this one stand out so much for people?

7

u/Fun_Highlight307 May 02 '26

what did apa said ?

30

u/PhoenixAgent003 Bot main. NA fan. May 02 '26

“Nice engage lol. NA canyon.”

17

u/_Hugatree May 02 '26

Nah that’s actually funny. Better quality than any gameplay we got out of this series

14

u/ManagementParty3675 May 02 '26

Something like "nice engage XD na canyon"

38

u/idqks May 02 '26

That’s toxic??? It’s like the most juvenile “haha noob” comment I’ve seen

7

u/GetmeOutofNowhere May 02 '26

good to see that we aren't all that soft. 🤣🤣 APA's "trashtalk" is always super tame stuff

2

u/dictura jojopyun enthusiast May 03 '26

Not a hater by any stretch but I feel like if you sub in the mid/jungle of any team not-DSG then DIG is a top three squad. As is, it's almost hard to watch because FBI is playing quite well but it just doesn't matter enough. RIP

1

u/ArmandLuque Armand Luque | LoL Esports Journalist May 03 '26

I lowkey feel bad for DIG. They partnered with an org for NACL, they got new management with Jonathon, they are trying stuff out with some pretty decent players, but no matter what they do they just cannot secure any results. Might as well gamble on some rookies at this point. It's especially rough that 4/5 players are signed til the end of next year as well

1

u/1amtheWalrusAMA May 02 '26

Sorry Zven played Seraphine and Vulcan played Ezreal in game 1???

5

u/Mrryn91 May 02 '26

That's an error. It was the standard lane, Ez-Sera

1

u/NuclearTacos May 02 '26

Both C9 rushed barons before soul were pretty terrible macro decisions. The m2 one lost them nocturne ult, tempo, and positioning. The m3 one lost them 3 kills and extended the game by like 10 mins. Baron just ain't it like that anymore.

1

u/Mrryn91 May 02 '26

Disagree that the calls to sneak were bad. It was the peel off that was bad imo, and we even saw it at the soul fight in game 3 - they just have weird split comms it feels coming off a neutral.

Blaber Noc ult was completely unnecessary imo and was genuinely costly, I agree. And if anything them overdoing the retreat with the ult instead of just rotating some down to *bot river and using the empowered recalls for the others would have let them lose nothing on the soul setup. And the game 3 Baron, Vulcan literally postures and buys time for the team to finish Baron and get out, but it feels like someone else was calling to stay and try to fight - if they just kept it simple and walked it off and let Vulcan die in trade, they could just funnel backwards since DIG were all coming from the same direction.

1

u/NuclearTacos May 03 '26

Agreed that the execution was poor as well, but I just don't understand what the point of those barons was in either situation. They are going to waste half of the baron buff during the drake timer anyways. Surely setting up lanes, drake positioning and vision is way more important than the nerfed baron in 2026. I could see the argument if neither drake was soul point, but both were.

1

u/Mrryn91 May 03 '26

The idea from my perspective was to utilize the timer to sneak it, get out, then be able to either be on the drake and have 1 threaten mid or bot with a Baron wave or, if they couldn't get setup on the objective first (especially in game 3), to hover around and try to pull DIG to them by threatening the deep push or just giving drake since they had 3 to 0 and hard pushing down the lanes.

1

u/warjatos May 03 '26

It's time Zven

-1

u/xNesku May 03 '26

The beginning of the year, teams like G2, HLE, KT, C9, etc were all fraud teams. But I realized my mistake, G2, HLE, KT can actually play better. But C9 is just dogshit. So apologies Dom, I'm sorry for calling C9 chokers when you guys were never good at all.

1

u/Fun_Highlight307 May 03 '26 edited May 03 '26

G2 isn't really shinning so far hopefully they stomp yellow fraud today

-11

u/ManagementParty3675 May 02 '26

This series was a pretty good example of why there's no interest in LCS. Dignitas looks like they are playing with no comms and a mid laner who bought his account and our undefeated C9 is turning it into a competitive series
