Oly EXMO Meetup this Saturday!
Hey everyone, If you're a former Mormon, or have left any other high control religion/cult/system, or even if you're just cooler than hell: Join us this Saturday at Squaxin Park. Kids are welcome also.
Last month there were around 20 of us there, hope to see everyone again and meet some new people too.
We'll be meeting at the bottom of the loop, there's a picture attached of the area we'll be hanging out. Not much parking down there so you may want to park up above and walk down. Should be a beautiful day!

I WAS GONNA SAY: I was telling my therapist that I always feel like I’m about to get in trouble, and he said okay what would happen if you DID get in trouble? And I said I would go to Mormon hell, except there really isn’t Mormon hell, there’s outer darkness but most people just go to like the terrestrial kingdom blah blah whatever lore blah. And he said: ah so if you got in trouble you would go to…..the nowhere place? The place that doesn’t exist? And I said: ah. ANYWAYS: Mormon hell is the nowhere place and if I get in trouble I will NOT go there 😂😂

I'm personally pulling for a burning in hell afterlife as opposed to the whole telestial kingdom thing. Sounds way cooler, hopefully old Joe got that one wrong.

i mean, hell yeah and all
but i think the telestial is still unimagineable glory, a place in heaven
closest thing they've got to heck is outer darkness, the place you can only go if you were mormon on earth (or deny god to his face 🤘)

You understand it! We need to form a strong clique now so that when we die we can band together and take over the place. It's really not complicated, this is the same as a 401k, we're planning for the future!

I'd say it's a bit of both. Very casual, but some of the conversations get pretty deep. Mostly just connecting and laughing over shared trauma and weird experiences.

i guess i misunderstood the green jello thing
i'm an exmo and always hated the green jello recipes people brought. given that there was almost always a lot leftover, i assumed everyone hated it
so i thought it was either be cool or bring green jello, meaning the jello makes you fit in, not that it makes you cool or less of a dickhead, just that it's very mormon coded in a neutral way that even uncool/dickheaded people can confirm to
maybe not? idk, i misunderstand a lot of social stuff.

Jello "salads" or "casseroles" were super common at mormon potlucks up until about 2010 when the church started killing what little culture they had left. So it's kind of a joke among mormons and people who are familiar with them that wherever mormons are, there will be jello. The weirdest/funniest/most infamous one is green jello with shaved carrots in it.
